Yes, indeed - the butter knife is ... unpleasant.

Yeah hulk, I've tried the strap quite a bit and seems to make little difference if any.
You put up with the pain until the point where you can't deal with it anymore and you haven't tried physio?!

You even want to try magical lasers, but haven't done physio?!

Are you crazy?!

Wow. #I'm really sorry I havn't pursued physio. I just might be crazy...I know I've been called worse, so crazy, yeah probably.

Anyway, as mentioned, its been brought up with 2 doctors in the past. Physio wasn't suggested, so I assumed (wrongly I now find out) it was an ailment that wouldnt benefit from it. I know of no one else with golfers or tennis elbow so I had limited knowledge of what to do. A new chiropractor I visited the other day suggested laser as well. I did some googling on it, and what I read sounded promising.#

I never said that i wanted to try it. I was asking if anyone else had, and if they'd had any success! How the hell would I have known laser therapy is some kind of snake oil as you seem to feel?#

You almost come across as offended!?

Have you considered a cortisone shot?

Deeply.

I suppose physio isn't the obvious answer for some as it is for many, and since your doctors didn't refer you I can understand your situation.

So let me rephrase: I'd recommend trying physio first, especially if you feel skeptical about other treatments. Lateral epicondylitis is fairly common, and I'd be downright surprised if you didn't get relief from physio (unfortunately, yes, that means doing some stretches/icing/heating/exercises on your own).

Thanks for the more helpful response.

So I dunno, I'm assuming now you're either a therapist yourself, or connected closely somehow, correct me if I'm mistaken. Do I need a referral or can I pretty much make an appt. with any physio that's accepting patients? Can you recommend one?

You do not need a referral but I would suspect your family doctor could give you a recommendation.

You can just call a physio clinic in your area and book an initial assessment and then successive treatments afterward. Luckily, a lot of people are covered for physio from work benefits.

All physiotherapists are 'accepting patients' since there is high patient turnover. The only issue would be booking your next treatment (1 - 2 / week) if the therapist at that time has many patients. But you can just book in advance to ensure you get an appointment.

Good luck regardless of your treatment!
