Ugly result as the Jets head into the holiday break. No game story as the I am preparing the mid season review and have lots of shopping left to finish.

Coyotes FINALLY end their losing streak with a tie against the Penguins

Four games into a losing streak the Coyotes lost their top centre Daniel Briere to injury. Many were beginning to wonder if the Coyotes would ever stop their losing ways, but tonight against the Penguins they pulled together and scored three powerplay goals (converting 3 of 7) to push the tie game into overtime, where it would remain unsettled.

Heatley and Tanguay combined for four points (2g, 2a), and the Coyotes dominated much of the play, including a 23-3 shot barrage in the second period. If it hadn't been for Theodore's stellar goaltending, the Coyotes might have had their way with the powerhouse Penguins.

Game Stars 1 - Alexander Frolov (PEN)
2 - Jose Theodore (PEN)
3 - Alex Tanguay (COY)

Wow, the Bruins seem to have found their way. Some really nice wins heading into the Xmas break. PJ Axelsson continues his streak of greatness with the Bs. Today it was a goal and a +3 rating. More on the Bruins recent stretch later.

At least it wasn't the loss the Wild were bragging about all this week.

Sister kissing

Some times it's painful to watch someone kiss their sister. Other times, it's actually not such a tough sight for the old eyes. Todays tie with the Columbus Blue Jackets was actually pleasant to stomach for the CPHL's New Jersey Devils.

The Devils opened the scoring on the PP when Arron Asham fired home his lucky 13th goal of the year after taking a nice pass from Luc Robitaille. The Jackets however tied things up when Taylor Pyatt tallied his 15th of the season. The Devils took a brief lead in the second frame when Robert Lang ripped home a wrister from the hashmarks in his first game as a Devil. But the Jackets blitzed the Devils with 2 goals 9 seconds apart just after the midway point of the second when Ollie "the joke" Jokinen scored his 20th, and Taylor Pyatt fired home his second of the game at the 11:23 and 11:32 marks of the middle frame. Pyatt would complete his hat trick 3:16 later when he shovelled home a rebound past Mike Morrison to put the CBJ up 4-2 going into the third.

But the Devils decided to be the annoying team that they are and try to ruin the Blue Jackets christmas. First it was the dynamic duo of Pisani and Asham converting a 2 on 1 to get the Devils within 1. Than with only 3:20 left in the game Eric Cairns floater from the blue line banked off 3 bodies before it fluttered into Brent Johnsons gear. Not sure where the puck was Johnson tried to fall forward, only to have the puck roll up to his neck, than down his back and into the net. The Devils somehow managed to hold on and pick up the single point. Despite being outshot 30-12 after two periods the Devils found a way to stay close enough to make it a game. In the past two days the Devils have scored 8 goals on 35 shots. The sign of a very annoying opponent.

After just over half the season the Devils have 15 wins and 38 points. Certainly injuries have tormented the Devils as Dunham, and Primeau were expected to be the teams two big workhorses. Surprisingly the Devils have hung reasonably tough with the tandem of Hurme and Morrison patrolling the nets. The Devils despite not having that much for firepower have managed to score their share of goals. The Devils are 15th in the CPHL in goals for and 7th on the PP. Of course defensively....the Devils suck. But overall things could certainly have gone worse. For the most part aquisitions like Fernando Pisani, Mike Morrison and Dan Fritsche have found ways to come in and contribute. Others like Kotalik, and Nylander also played well as Devils, and Lang was impressive in his first game. Theres still an immense amount of work to be done in Jersey, but GM Syl does feel that things are slowly starting to look up. Looking back to his first year as a GM getting 15 wins and 38 points in half a season is an accomplishment and to be honest his current Devils have endured a lot of the same plights his old Panther team did. It's just that Syl has learned a bit of patience during his tenure as a GM. Hopefully in two seasons the Devils can find a way to be where Syl's old teams the Panthers and Oilers are today.

Ahhhh....that's nice...a 5-1 win over the Flames to head into the holidays. The Blues finally showed some team chemistry, and had a solid effort from everyone for the first time in quite a while.

It was also nice to spend some time in the press box with Flames GM, Estelle Getty. The stories of the old days in Sicily always make for an entertaining intermission.

3 Stars: 1- StLouis 2- Guerin 3- Conroy
Thrashers give the Rangers new Jockstraps for Christmas!

New York watched in horror as the Atlanta Thrashers flew into town on Thursday night and proceeded to hand their team a whalloping not seen since corporal punishment was banned from Junior High Schools.
Many in attendance actually believed that some Rangers players were spotted at Sado Masochist clubs in the New York region over the last few weeks leading the majority to believe that the Rangers actually enjoy being whipped on a nightly basis!

On the ice, the Thrashers dominated from the opening whistle. Four minutes in Craig Conroy started the onslaught. By the end of the 1st it was 3-1 Thrashers and pretty much wrapped up with a big bow.
Jamie Langenbrunner, Craig Conroy, Bill Guerin and Marty St Louis all had multiple points on the night with eight other players notching a single point.

The Calgary Sun

Flames 1 Blues 5

Boucher makes his return ....
and wets the bed!

Flames goaltender Brian Boucher made his return to the Flames lineup last night and was promptly yanked in the second period after giving up 5 goals.

Flames go into the Christmas break on a slump and here's hoping that the break will give the boys a bit of time to reflect, spend some time with families and figure out WHAT THE **** IS WRONG????????

With the New Year looming, Flames GM Axmann is hoping that it will be a year of positive change. Flames need to find that consistency that has been sorely lacking in the first half of the season. Changes are forth coming but rushing a trade will not happen. "We will look at all opportunities and make changes when we feel it will benefit our team. We are playing for the here and now and hope to make a strong run after the holidays", Axmann was quoted as saying. "We have definately crossed off the list some GM's who think that spewing their mouth off in the media and poking fun at this veteran GM is going to make for good trade talks. Well I can assure you that it doesnt and I am getting a tad bit sick and tired of the trash talk. When those GM's can finally leave the apron strings of their mommies, then they can politely ask if I will listen to their offers", Axmann went on to say. In the meantime, Axmann has made it very clear that public enemy number 1, Devils GM, *****whipped, is about to get a taste of his own medicine. "The princesss over there in the swamp should maybe have a closer look at his team before he starts taking potshots at a GM from two generations ago. If he was such a hot shot agent and GM, then maybe he could start improving his team rather than flushing it further down the toilet. But I digress, Sylvanfan has to figure out how to tie his shoelaces first before he can walk:baby: . Better yet, he has to become toilet trained cause he is really stinking up the place or is that his team thats passing gas. Either way, HE SUCKS!!"

Getting on to the main topic, Flames will make deals during the Holiday season break. "Christmas, Schmimas...its all about us, and we will do what it takes to make the Flames the best team in the CPHL!!!!

For the Calgary Sun, this is Elvis Rodriguez, saying "Thank you..thank you very much, seester!

Happy Holidays and seasons greetings to all.

No Solution

It seems like the schedule makers have the Preds playing either the Flyers, Candiens or yesterdays opponents, Capitals.

In his last game before Vokoun gets back, Montoya made 25 saves for a single point.

The Preds got goals from Kariya (19), Kubina (11), Robitaille (5), Feodorov (16).

After the X-Mas break, here come the Preds.
