I'm kind of glad. I don't want the Office to turn into AD.

Ferrell gave an interview on the weekend suggesting that he will be joining the show full-time and not just for the final 4 episodes as reported: http://insidetv.ew.com/2011/03/28/wi...ice-full-time/
Most people assume he was kidding, but, you never know. People have pointed out that Carell has been able to make a movie or two per year while doing the show, so it's not like Ferrell would have to stop making movies if he did take on the show full-time.

Doesn't he clear 20 million a movie?

Well, Charlie Sheen was paid 2 mill an episode on his show (25 episodes on average per season). You never know what they might offer a big star to be Carell's replacement.
With the filming schedule of most tv shows, it allows more than enough time to film movies on the side (6 months on, 6 months off). Not to mention that Will Ferrell's movie reviews have been going downhill fast for quite some time- this might be a way to revive his career. The schedule on a tv gig is probably much easier to deal with as well- less travel, consistent work schedule.
I have noticed that Carell's routine has been getting less and less funny recently. While it would have been impossible to replace him back in season 2 or 3, I think it might be good for the show at this point... although I think Jim Carrey would have been the ultimate replacement- talk about a guy that needs to go back to his roots!

I know a lot on CP don't like Ferrell, but he would/will? be hilarious as the new boss.

I love Will Ferrel. It's kind of become popular to hate on the guy, but meh, he still cracks me up.
I could see him doing a season or two of The Office, the stigma of moving from movie to TV star doesn't have the stigma around Hollywood it used to have it seems.

If you look at his resume on IMDB, lately he's been doing one big movie per year, then a bunch of little projects like cameos in movies and tv shows and stuff for Funny or Die.
So, if he enjoyed himself during his 4 episode stint, he seems like the kind of guy who would be willing to take on a regular tv role.
If Alec Baldwin and Chevy Chase are willing to stoop to doing a weekly series, why not Ferrell?

I don't think he will be the boss long term, but he does seem passionate about the position. Seems like he did all he could to get on the show, and especially wanted to do an episode with Carrell.

- I think Ferrell will be awesome in the 4 episodes he's in.
- I don't think he'll be the permanent replacement.
- I wouldn't be at all shocked if Season 8 is the show's final season.

Agreed.
I would love to see the Office stay on the air (while staying hilarious), but how many shows actually make it after making a major cast change? Some, but most fail miserably.

This is the internet, it's popular to hate on everybody/everything that has achieved success.
Will Ferrel is hilarious, and he would do well.

Paul Lieberstein said today that Will has not been booked for anything more then his 4 episode arc and Will Arnett announced today he will be one of the stars of a new NBC show starting next season. So that leaves Gervais, one of the other guest stars from the finale or sticking with someone from in house. If that's the case, I'd love to see Darryl as the new regional manager.

I bet this show crashes and burns when Steve Leaves... It might do good the first 2-3 episodes but it will probably lose 80% of its viewers in that time and get canceled before Christmas.

You would have to be the supreme commander of all the worlds idiots to not take that bet.
If you looked up easy money in the dictionary, this is used as the example as a bet one would take to make easy money.

The Office will still pull solid ratings as long as it's on tv, it's had it's struggles and still remained one of the top rated comedies. I'm one of the biggest Office fans and Michael Scott may go down as my favorite tv character but I'm not ready to put this show to rest before it's even had a chance to prove itself. Season 6 was god awful but I've been so impressed with Season 7 and it's only behind 2 and 3.
The show was bound to struggle when it lost Schur and Daniels to Park and Rec. Greg Daniels may be the most underrated creative mind in Hollywood. Everything he's done has turned into gold, The Simpsons, King of the Hill, The Office and Parks and Rec. But the show has bounced back big time this year, and there's a strong enough supporting cast for this show to still be successful.

This.
I love The Office, and I liked tonights episodes, but not as much as I hoped I would... but yah.. Parks and Rec is frigging hilarious. I just got into it this season and it's amazing.
The big difference is while they both set the show initially around the boss character... Parks and Rec really has a better more comedic supporting cast.
Ron Swanson is amazing.

Hilarious, I remember the episode where he sat in his chair the whole day and into the night when he couldn't move. Didn't tell anyone till April finally figured it out. Even the cleaning person came and left and he stayed there. lol.
Oh ya the Office is amazing too, gotta catch tonights episode still but Ferrel on there? would be epic!
