Correct, and when I made the thread early in the morning most reports didnt even know how he lost his leg. When I first heard out on the radio it almost sounded like someone cut his leg off and left him on the tracks to be ran over.

660 was reporting an "assault on a man who lost a leg" this morning. Confused the crap out of me.

Thing I learned today - apparently the cTrains run at 3:30am.

Not sure about the NW or the NE trains, but I know the SW train runs 22 hours a day.

To service the NW, the trains first have to come up from the Anderson garage. Similarly, the first train serving the NE line comes up from Anderson to 10th Street Station, then goes toward the NE. As a result, service in the south starts quite a bit earlier than the NW, and a little bit before the NE.

The problem with the earliness of this incident was that not many trains got up to the NW line, and once 7th Avenue was closed, the NW was severed (excuse the term, given the nature of the incident) from the rest of the system with only one or two trains up there, if any (?).

Seems like there's almost some kind of joke about Toronto being gay in here..but I just can't pinpoint it.

Re: Nenshi

He took a moment to congratulate the good folks at Calgary Transis on their handling of the situation this morning.

I wondered what happened. I catch the train at 4:30am, and there generally isn't this sort of trouble that early in the morning. Though seeing the cops crawling all over 'my' station was an eye opener.

In addition to the accident early this morning there was also an accident around 9 involving a train downtown and a mechanical problem with the 9th street switching system at 9:30. I was on the train at crowfoot station at 9:20, but didn't get downtown until 10:30

It should be said that any move of LRT into tunnels downtown will be done more for capacity and efficiency reasons than safety concerns. As it stands, the 8th Avenue Subway will only be built for the use of the NW and South lines while the NE and West lines will remain on the at-grade 7th Avenue transit mall.
