MTS Centre is really nice. Checked out the Heat/Moose game on Friday and enjoyed the place as a whole. Definitely smaller, but can't complain because everything is well done. They had the upper level seating closed off for the game, but I'm just going to hope that was because having two home games in a row against the same team doesn't draw well in any circumstance.

They close it off for most regular season games, except for four or five "special event" games. It creates demand to not have those available for sale and it shows with them averaging close to 90% of the 8800 lower bowl capacity.

Well since I haven't been to any modern NHL rinks (Saddledome and Rexall are it for me ) I can't say for sure. It seems to have everything set up so much better than the older rinks, that's for sure. There's more info on their website. Lots of pictures and diagrams.

http://www.mtscentre.ca/tour/index.php

I think one of the interesting things was how loud it was in there considering the upper level was closed off. It didn't take much noise from the crowd to really get loud in there, and every hit in the boards was really amplified. When the Moose scored in the shootout to win it was pretty crazy sounding.

EDIT: Oh, and it's WAY colder in there than they keep the Saddledome. Was definitely caught by surprise there.

Glendale has buyers for Half of the Bonds. Working with NHL to work out deal if other half won't sell.

Gotta say.. I had originally believed that the fans in Winnipeg deserved a team but after their arrogance and just plain fierceness and rudeness the past couple of weeks.. i hope that city never see's the drop of another NHL puck.

Anywhere but Winnipeg!

Hahaha. Whatever will the fans of Winnipeg do now that a rabid Coyotes fan hopes they never see an NHL franchise again?

You think maybe they feel the same way about you guys seeing as you stole their team first? Face it, the Yotes are done in Phoenix and NHL hockey will never be shown in the desert again. The death of a stupid idea and good riddance!

I'm kinda in the same boat as Bouw N Arrow. I have no idea how a fanbase for a franchise that doesn't even exist is the worst in the NHL. Defiantly great maturity they've showcased during this whole ordeal. Really made me jaded in them getting a team back aside from the economics of the situation. So little respect and class shown. (Although I'm sure it's just from a vocal minority)

I understand the emotion and desire and how exciting the prospect of this happening is, but try to act older than 12 year old kids and lay off the elementary attacks on a franchise that still exist and could still remain. Yeesh, you guys were in the exact situation years ago. It's only bad if it happens to you I guess...

I still hold to the fact that any Canadian city that was to lose their team would be no different. I can guarantee you if we were in Winnipegs' position we would be all over this thing, and you can guarantee that the passion would spread to the lowest common denominator.

Frankly when the few supporters of the current shaky franchise (Coyotes, Thrashers) react to it, it only makes them look silly IMO.

I went to a concert there 2 summers ago and I personally found it to be a bit nicer than the Dome. Yes it's newer, but it was brighter, roomier and I found the beer lines much more manageable. The corridors were on-par with the Calgary Airport if that gives you any reference point. Sorta felt like being in a mall.

Your attitude is axiomatic of how people favouring Winnipeg's return to the NHL are going to ensure their fans come out of this looking and smelling like ass.

Phoenix didn't "steal" the Jets. Winnipeg surrendred them through apathy and a lack of anyone willing to operate a team in that city. Jetsowners could easily have taken the high road, and focused on how their city is good for the NHL. Instead, the comments we've seen on forums, call-in shows and comments sections on articles shows that many of them are just behaving like the ####### children of Canucks and Roughrider fans. Which is to say, spoiled brats with an entitlement complex.

I don't care what a few 'classless' or 'immature' fans that come on boards and just spew up garbage have to say. Every organization has these fans.

I personally hope that the Jets return to Winnipeg. In my opinion, it will create one more rivalry between the Western Canadian teams. Watching a game with intense rivalry trumps watching one without. That is what I care about as a Calgary Flames Fan.

Can they be successful in Winnipeg? Well, I don't think they would be a 'rich team' by any metric. However, can they possibly be worse than Phoenix? Tickets are some of the cheapest in the NHL to come by in the desert, right? They still have a very, very poor turnout after so many years - and being competitive! It seems that Winnipeg would at least bleed less financially, and it SOUNDS as if they could actually turn a profit. The only question is "Can they keep up with the rest of the league for revenues?"

If they simply can not afford to have a near-cap team and be profitable, then there is a big problem in the long run. Every year that the cap keeps rising, it will hurt Winnipeg (and other smaller markets, I would think). Would Winnipeg still support a team that is a middle to lower-end cap team, with little hope of being a contender at any point?

On the flipside - are there any other cities that the Coyotes could be moved to? If it weren't for this economic crisis, then perhaps there would be another major US city to move the team to, but as it stands, from what people are saying, the only 'viable' markets to at least break even are Winnipeg, Quebec (after the new building is completed) and Hamilton (which seems a little improbable these days).

I personally would love the Jets back - 6 more games against a RIVAL. 6 more vastly entertaining and emotional games. To me, that is a win for Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver.

Glad to see you paint all Jets fans with the same brush, I am sure you have listend to many call in shows about this as well. Have you read any Arizona articles on Winnipeg? Do you listen to call in shows in Winnipeg? What about papers? Comparing Winnipeggers to Rider fans and Nuck fans? I really wish there was a blocking feature on certain posters because frankly you post the same whiney bull$$#@ every time.

Let's not tar all of Jets Nation for the actions of a couple of hundred internet trolls.

The Winnipeg ownership group has always taken the high road, keeping quiet and patient throughout. The vast majority of Manitobans I know have an "I'll believe it when I see it" attitude about the return of the Jets, and have no quarrel with Phoenix.

I use the phrase "Jetsowners" to describe a very specific, very loud, and completely deluded subset of Jets "fans". And they are very much a problem for the rest, as evidenced by a couple users in this thread.

The good fans are getting drowned out by the bad, and the resulting reputation is a consequence the rest have to live with.

And PegCity - ignore feature is in your user control panel. cya.

Sporting woes sack Glendale
http://www.azcentral.com/community/g...a-coyotes.html

Glendale is staring down the barrel of a potential National Football League lockout at UniversityofPhoenixStadium, the possible loss of the Phoenix Coyotes at Jobing.com Arena, funding gaps at the city's spring-training ballpark and nearly-dead plans for a USA Basketball facility.

Now, Fiesta Bowl misdeeds threaten the organization's membership in the Bowl Championship Series, which allows it to host a top-tier college-football game in Glendale annually and a national-championship game every four years.

And now, more or less, the same thing is happening in Glendale, so it's a moot point. The only guy who wants to keep the team there wants to do so with money he doesn't have, and the fans haven't supported the team well enough to deserve one.
