TNSE would prefer the time but got allot of the negotiating out of the way last spring on the actual deal so the turn around on the purchase could be done very quickly. My assumption is they would want as much time as they could get to sell the ST's, luxury suites, and advertising but they are a very quiet and patient group.
I think a larger challenge would come if the Yotes got their deal done and TNSE got a shot at Atlanta....there would be more time needed to complete that financial transaction

I don't pay much attention to the NBA, but I happened to have the tv on The Score tonight and they're showing the Suns @ Sacramento game.
During the game, they've been talking about how the Sacramento Kings are potentially going to move to Anaheim to share the Honda Center with the Ducks (the team will change its name to the Royals because there's already a team named the Kings in Los Angeles -- strangely, the team was originally named the Royals, but they changed it to the Kings when they moved to Kansas City because of the baseball Royals).
Where this relates to this thread is that tonight the Anaheim City Council voted unanimously in favour of a $75 million bond issue to help the Kings pay off debts to the city of Sacramento and renovate the Honda Center to meet NBA standards and build a practice facility for the team: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/spor...y-council.html
I guess they're lucky the Goldwater Institute doesn't have an Orange County chapter.

It's not like Goldwater can do what they're doing in Arizona in any jurisdiction that they want (even if they did have a chapter there). The only reason Goldwater can do what they're doing in Glendale is because the Arizona State Constitution has the Gift Clause, no Gift Clause no problem. Really the two situations aren't similar unless the California State Constitution has a similar clause in it.
At this point I think I'd just like it to be all over either with a done deal (and all legal niceties/lawsuits taken care of) or with a relocation announcement... don't care which. The sideshow is starting to get boring.

Which deal - Atlanta or Phoenix?
I appreciate that you have all this awesome insider information, but being cryptic about it is annoying (especially since you were wrong last time ).

When I read the post which he responded to, I assume he is talking about the Thrashers...
However I doubt he will confirm it either way.... need to read between lines.

When you don't confirm your statements, it's harder to be wrong about something. Last time he was definitive on anything related to this subject, he Eklunded it so badly that I can't help but question anything he says anymore. [/goad]

SCH is clearly in a position where he has some insider information, but can't say too much. Of course, insider information in a case where the situation is changing rapidly isn't always accurate either, or it's outdated by the time it comes out.

I'm sure eklund would make the same argument. I'm not comparing the two I'm just saying so far SCH has yet to really provide any inside information that isn't already being circulted elsewhere and been correct to this point.

What he's saying now (IMO), he's been saying for a while, and hasn't been shown to be wrong yet. I suppose we'll find out after Atlanta's season is done.

Atlanta is a done deal. That's not to say Phoenix couldn't completely unravel and things change - and this thing IS changing on a regular basis but Atlanta is what's done.

I would like the Winnipeg Thrashers back in our division, just to see Byfuglien drive Luongo nuts 6 times a year.

Assuming the NHL owns the name, I think it would be a flub not to call them the Winnipeg Jets, regardless of where they come from.

Agreed, I just wanted to make it more clear which team would be ending up in Winnipeg. Really it looks like there is zero chance that they end up not getting a team next season.

I think calling them anything but the Winnipeg Jets is a bad idea. And calling them the "Manitoba [Insert Team Name]" is my least favourite idea of all. Really dislike using the province instead of the city name. Manitoba Moose, fine, it's an AHL team and they were called the 'Moose' so 'Manitoba Moose' rolled off the tongue a bit better than the 'Winnipeg Moose'.
