I completely understand your view of getting it to your best player for the best chance to keep the game going.
My point was that it isn't a 100% sure thing to go to overtime with a 2. It's about a 50% shot even to get it there. Combine that with a 50% chance to win once you are there is where I get the 25% chance to 39.7%.
Having said that, I would've liked some ball movement before taking the 3.
EDIT: I should clarify inside-out ball movement. I love kick-out 3's.

UNC are getting killed by 3 pointers by Kentucky and their inept 3-pointers as well. Everytime they get closer, Kentucky answers back. I don't like this game so far. UNC needs to play smart and play good defense.

Kansas got out coached by VCU. Took em a whole half to figure out you can't give VCU the 3 point shot.
Great run by Kansas to start the second half but couldn't maintain the momentum. FT shooting was bad and the same goes for field goals and 3 point shots. Not a good day for Jayhawk fans

I don't know - I'd be more inclined to watch cinderellas than the same old teams.

that sucks!! I think that last 3 pointer by Kentucky was only a 2 pointer.
Barnes from UNC on the other hand made some bad decision on a forced 3 pointer. Not a good decision.

It's over!! No #1 and #2 seed teams in the Final Four this year.
That sucks!! Kentucky deserved the win today. Their big guys(Brandon Knight and Liggins) played the way a star player who is supposed to play. UNC was just plain bad on 3-pointers and played awful on 3-point defense. They also got into foul trouble early.

Man, my family is so pumped right now. Some of it went to the University of Kentucky and are diehard fans. Brandon Knight has been unreal in this tournament making clutch shot after clutch shots. Kentucky has hit their 3's this year where as last year vs WVU they hit 0.

Whoever wins the pick em contest is either clairvoyant, or completely oblivious to college basketball.
There is no other rational explanation.

What an incredible tournament.
This thing is set up for UConn/Kentucky winner, but I have a feeling Butler might pull it out.
Congrats to VCU. Makes me wonder what might have happened had the ref not called that foul on Joe Ragland with .8 seconds to go. It's crazy how one play in a game 3 weeks before the tournament can have such a large effect.

The replay clearly showed his toe behind the line, it was a good 3.

VCU winning and winning is awesome to watch. I wish more sports did a tournament like this. Too bad the Memorial Cup wasn't something similar to this set up, even though Memorial Cup is also fine as it is.

Our CP pool comes down to today's second game. If Kentucky wins, Billybob123 wins and Displaced Flames Fan comes in 2nd. If Connecticut wins, Pubes wins and I come in 2nd.

I was watching the VCU-Butler game earlier but had to stop with few minutes left. Butler was winning. The difference in the game was Butler's 3-point shooting and VCU pretty much relying on one guy compared to Butler's pretty dimensional team. It wasn't an exciting game though. Butler definitely deserves the win on that game. I was cheering for VCU on that game and that was not the same VCU team last week. Hence the lost.
UConn is ahead after the first half. Go HUSKIES!!! I just love watching that Kemba Walker and Jeremy Lamb.

you are right. After watching the replays a few times, it was definitely a 3-pointer but it was close to being a 2-pointer though.

Bah! I was so close. I'm proud I had the left half of the F4 right... way off on the other half, but I bet most people are. I was just happy to be in contention! Usually I'm out by the end of the first day.
That 3-pt shot Kentucky took at the end (was it Liggins?) was boneheaded. You had a ton of time on the clock, drive the ball, if there's nothing, look for the shot. Instead, force up a 3 from 5 feet behind the line, contested. Wonder why that one missed

Nice, very entertaining game, particularly the second half that just went back and forth. Rare that a team gets outscored 27-3 on 3-pointers and still wins; I love watching Kemba Walker. Not sure what sort of pro he'll turn into (that height is going to be an issue).

Usually I am against the 3-pointer at the end of the game when a team is losing by 2 but I don't mind that shot. Liggins been putting the ball 3-pointers late in the game so he's the best choice. I also agree that they could have try to for 2-pointer as well.
I actually got scared there for a bit and thought Kentucky will win it. Then suddenly Brandon Knight started forcing the ball. He is a good player and I am an NBA GM, i would pick him as an early pick because he is a good and tall point guard. The only knack against this team is he makes some boneheaded decision a lot of times. He is still young though. Is he a freshman, junior or what? How many more years is he eligible to play in the NCAA. I am not a fan of Kentucky so I really follow him.
That was a good game though. I really think UConn Huskies will beat the Butler Bulldogs on Monday.
