Will it stream over wifi as well? Im assuming it will. I will get this program when I get home that seems like a great idea.

Can I go to my friends house and have videos sent from my pc to my ipad?

Technically yes, possibly no. I had this set up at one point but it mysteriously stopped working one day. You need a particular feature on your router to make it work. There's a free version of it I believe so you can test it out.

It will play within your house just fine, but things get dicey when you leave.

I'm thinking of purchasing the ipad 2 and am debating on the wifi alone or with 3G. The only reason I'd want 3G is if I'm traveling to the US, and where I'm staying doesn't have wifi. I don't want to pay insane roaming charges, so I'm wondering if I purchased a sim card from AT&T if it would work with the Canadian iPad. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I think to purchase an ATT SIM card, you will need a US Credit Card and possibly a valid US address. I think there was another thread on this forum that covered this but I can't remember.

If I was traveling to the states I would turn off 3G completely. I tried to find a solution and it wasn't easy. Lots of mixed answers when I looked.

Wow air video is sick. Works over my iPhone 3G hot spot and on a random stolen wifi connection. Now I'm going to get my friend to add his collection to a server and see if I can access it

Glad you like it. I've used it over 3G and it worked great for me as long as it's set up correctly (and good data reception). I know someone who had their video collection on their PC in Calgary and his girlfriend used it on her iPod Touch while over in London.

I did a speed test on the internet I was stealing while trying and it was only 512 kbs and picture was still decent was a little grainy but it looked pretty good over my 3g hotspot onto my ipad. Does watching it over 3g kill your data useage? I only have 3 gbs so I don't want to go crazy

Oh yeah, watching a movie will eat it up real quick. Even a low quality 45 minute TV torrent is around 300 MB. 10 of those and your 3 Gigs are gone. That's if you don't do anything else that month.

I don't really plan on using it outside of wifi but was just curious. So pretty much how ever big the video file is on my comp is how much data it will take up while watching it right?

That's a good way to estimate. Keep in mind that you're constantly transmitting some data. I wouldn't try to go too close to your cap by guessing. Though you will be notified when you're getting close to your data cap.

Can I buy the iPad now without the sim card and add it later? I will order 3g but don't know which carrier I will use as I have to compare plans.

I'm ordering on-line. Can I cancel that order later if I find one in a store? I believe I can cancel. Edit: I see that I can cancel later if necessary.

Okay..weirdest thing just happened. I opened the citytv app, pressed play on Modern Family, turned my tv on (which was set to my apple tv preset), ad low and behold Modern Family streamed VIDEO and audio, not just the normal audio (city tv app doesen't support video streaming yet apparently)

Pressed stop on the apple tv and tried to choose a new show on citytv...video streaming stopped working and hasn't worked since. Is it possible i found a bug? I certainly can't replicate it.

Congrats on the pickup. All in how much money did that cost you (seeing as you sold your old one)?
