Damn. Forearm strains are sometimes a precursor to Tomy John, let's hope not.
That throws a wrench into the projected pitching rotation spreading out the lefties and righties.
I am going to the first two games and expected to see Romero and Morrow.
Cecil was lined up to go #3 and Drabek #4 to keep it hard thrower after softer thrower and righty after lefty.
I wonder if they bump Drabek up, and when/if Morrow comes back, slot him after Cecil? I suspect Litsch will be the #5.

serious or not it's still concerning because there was a reason why seattle wanted morrow to be a RP and it's because he is a bandaid

Thats crap, every starter gets injury problems.... Even Doc had injuries.
If I recall Morrow was fine last season. Jays will be careful with Morrow or with any other player to make sure the player is healthy to return.

he's been around since 06, so in about 4-5 years his career high in innings pitched in his career was reached last year at a fairly pedestrian 146

My prediction was right, Drabek throwing Game 2, Cecil, Jo-Jo as the #4, Litsch at 5. My guess is we see Villenueava or Janssen sent down when Morrow is ready. Morrow slides into Reyes' spot, Reyes to the 'pen.

i know, it's just his past history doesn't inspire much confidence in his ability to stay healthy and thus was the reason why there was an innings cap for him alst year and why he will likely be capped again this year. it's a good thing, but i was simply stating the fact that he has been a band-aid

Again he is a young pitcher.... Jays shut him down as they did with every young pitcher.
For example Drabek will be handled the same....
He is not a "band-aid".... At this point the Jays are saying Morrow will miss 1 start.

Don't forget that the Mariners could never figure out if they wanted Morrow to be a starter or reliever. That effects a pitchers development and ability to throw a lot of innings. For a pitcher 27 may not be young, but it's not old either. There are very few MLB pitchers who win 100 games by their 30th birthday.

I think they are being extra caution with him as well because so much is expected of him this year, he has the stuff to be a legit ace of a staff
no harm in missing 1 start and getting fully healthy to start the year

I see this as a bit of a 26-man roster trick, wait to waive a guy until a week into the season - hope other teams have shuffled their decks enough that they won't pick up whatever 25-year old pitcher we send down (Purcey, Jo Jo, whomever).

This is what I think it is as well. Reyes may be attractive for teams right now, but if he (or whoever) is not available, there will be plenty more options as spring ends and teams trim down to 25 players. A team that may have made a play on whoever we have to send down, may have filled that spot a week into the season and then you sneak a guy through and keep the depth.

Another update from the Jays, announced the following
"According to bluejays.com, the club will use Bautista in right-field full time, while giving the third base job back to Edwin Encarnacion, who held down the spot in 2010, but appeared to not be in the clubs plans there in 2011."
Jays will make Rivera the DH.
I wonder if Lawrie will be the Jays before the season is completed.

Glad to see this, I like Joey Bats better in RF - and E5 can challenge Lind's range.

Over under on E5s from E5 for the year?
I'll go 20, but he only starts ~ 80 games.
Edit:
In addition, Jays aquired Jason Nix for cash considerations today.

Nix hit .224 last season with 15 doubles, 14 home runs and 34 RBI in 102 games between the Chicago White Sox and Indians.

Don't know how many ABs, but that is a better option than JMac for a PH.
