I wasn't there for this one, but one night 2 years ago my friends were at club (not the Roxy) and 5 Canucks were there. One of them was Ohlund who was just hanging out by the bar and not doing too much while the rest were doing their own thing. One of my friends walks up to Ohlund and says

Friend: So how come you're just hanging out here?

Ohlund: It's my turn to keep an eye on Shane

*They both turn to look at Shane O'Brien who had one girl over his shoulder and another grasped in his other arm*

Ohlund: I'll do something if he tries to lift up a 3rd one.

Horcoff is a big an arse as his nose is f'd up.
Gary Roberts took my hat when I was 8 to get it signed by the team but never returned it.

Great guys - Iggy, Gilmour, Fleury, Makarov, Terry Crisp, Tits, Torgajev, Vernon

I met Fraser McLaren in Cancun at Coco Bongos.
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p...88&encode=TRUE

We were both leaving the bathroom hall area and he asked me where I was from, we talked for a little bit, ended up mentioning he played pro hockey, I asked where he said with the Worcester Sharks and he had played some games for the San Jose Sharks.

He was down there with some teammates during the All-Star Break. He was a really nice guy, told me where he was sitting and if I wanted to anytime during the night I could go hangout with them.

He told me he was a fighter. (Or that it was at least his style) This year in the NHL so far hes fought Boll, Eager, Parros X2, in the AHL hes fought McGratton and some others.

He currently has one NHL goal and it was against the Canucks.

I'll defend Robyn Regehr, watched a Flames game with him when he was injured to start a season (2006-07?) was an awesome guy to sit and have a beer with. Shocks me to see people saying he is a jerk.

John Tonelli (such a cool guy), Joel Otto, Gary Roberts, Joey Mullen and Lanny McDonald all gave me the Diehard Flames fan for life bug meeting them different times when I was a kid. Freddie Brathwaite, Ken Wregget, and Ronnie Stern are great guys.

Biggest A-Holes: Kirk McLean (stupid Canuck), Jim Peplinski, and Joe Nieuwendyk as a rookie.

I actually had to excuse myself from Craig Conroy because I felt so bad taking his time away from more important people at the party I was at.

Such a great guy

My mom used to babysit Gary Roberts' daughter granted I was young but I remember him being a nice guy, also my mom says hes a nice guy lol. Also girl from high school asked Phaneuf to dance at the bar (maybe the alley? dont remember) he just looked at her and said "i dont dance" and turned away. Pretty hot chick too

Regehr was a bit of a jerk when I met him. This was during the 03-04 run, and he thought the only reason we were talking to him was because we wanted to score free beer. Additionally, he dated my friend many years ago and cheated on her relentlessly apparently.

Conroy - he is the man you'd have to be screwed up in the head to hate. The man also loves his shwarmas.

I have been fortunate to meet some NHL players and have had extensive conversations with them. The majority are good people off the ice and enjoy talking about many subjects besides hockey.

Jarome Iginla is first class and the best. He always appears to be an average person and will always talk to anyone. I served him at a restaurant and he let me take my break with him. He was in Victoria for the Courtnall's charity golf tournament.

Rod Brind'amour is another polite NHL player who will sit and chat to anyone.

Mark Napier is a down to earth guy who would not hesitate to work at a low wage job to help low income workers.

The Courtnall brothers are very nice to speak with, especially Russ Courtnall.

Trevor Linden is another person who blends in with everyone else and is fun to socialize with.

Martin Brodeur is terrific to talk about hockey and the NHL in general. He would jump at the chance to play goalie in a street hockey game with you as long as someone would give him a Devils jersey. I asked him that because I have heard that on many occasions.

Stephane Richer is the rudest and most ignorant player to interact with, in other words a total loser. Whether you speak french or english, he will be rude and negative no matter how nice and complimentary a person is towards him.

All of the above except for Richer will sign autographs for anyone. Richer just walks away even with young kids wanting the autograph.

All these were collecting autographs at the dome after games, so it might have been a slightly different reaction in a different setting.

Good: Jarome Iginla, Craig Conroy, Derrik Morris, Regehr (little on the quiet side), Valeri Bure

Meh: Mario Lemieux (completely ignored me), Nik Lidstrom (didn't speak), Kipper (was really quiet and you could tell was uncomfortable with situation and having a conversation)

Turrible: Brendan Shanahan, Chris Chellios (actually argued with some fans), Marc Savard (ignoring everyone at a Flames event), Oliwa, The Dion

Until last night, I'd never met any NHL'ers, except I may have met Dave Babych when I was about 7 at a minor hockey supper in my small Manitoba town - can't remember any details but I have a signed hockey picture of him! Anyway, last night I met Conny, Iggy, Kipper and Kotalik. Conny was absolutely hilarious and hyper, Iggy was just so genuine - he spent 15 minutes talking and getting is picture taken with two kids from the Make a Wish foundation and then spoke to us for a couple minutes. Kotalik was reserved and cautious and Kipper I only said hello to briefly and shook his hand but he didn't brush us off, which was nice.

Anyway, I was quite happy with my brief NHL'er encounters so far.

I saw Regehr and McCarty at the alley, they were pretty good.

Commodore at the airport was simply awesome after the 04 game 7. He stayed after the cops left, and some guys asked if he was hungry, and he said something (I didn't hear), then the guy said "Let's take commodore out for breakfast!!!"

At Snatch I saw Phaneuf, Boyd and Moss. Shook Phaneuf's hand, but he didn't say much. Same deal with Moss. Shot the #### with Boyd for a while about Winnipeg though (he laughed at me cuz of the area I had to grow up in). Phaneuf was not a dink about it by the way.

Fred Brathwaite when he played for the Moose, just an autograph.

I got to meet all the Flames when I was a kid in minor hockey (we got to play a fun game against them). The guy who stood out as the nicest was Tim Hunter. Quite often the tough guys are the nicest to kids. The least friendly and most aloof was Reggie Lemelin...goalies are weird.

I've never had a "bad" experience with an NHLer (I define rude as in actually doing something rude, not just ignoring you)... as far as a real experience goes, when I worked at the Dome a long time ago, after the game, Darcy Tucker came up to the concourse floor to talk to fans after the game. I was pretty impressed by that.

A week after Brian Sutter was fired, I was working at the Stampede and he was stuck in traffic for a few hours. He wasn't extroverted and some would say that would be rude, but he was a little more personable one-on-one after I got to talk to him for bit. His boots were falling apart, and he goes to the back of his rusted up POS truck to get a hammer from his rusted up POS toolbox and tries to hammer his boots back into shape. After traffic started to flow a bit, he shook my hand and grunted something like bye.

Rude: Chris Higgins and Adam Pardy. Fleury was a bit of a grump, but he was probably high.

Nice: Tim Jackman and Mosser were both awesome, and so was Gio. Iginla goes without saying.

You guys should be posting up stories to go along with your convictions! And not the experience of the friend of the father of your younger sister's fiance... Something that you can attest to!

Adam Pardy is the only hockey player I "met". He came into a bar I was bouncing at a couple of years ago and seemed pretty dicrete mostly. Kept to himself and the handful of people he was with (none were players). Just much had some drinks and sat at the VLT's, ignoring everything else.

In no way would I describe him as rude. Shy or tired perhaps?

Has anyone caught Iginla on a bad day? I want a story where he acts like a dirtbag.

I need to know that he's human.
