Dear god, that awkward slice of slice of pop culture actually makes Gaga look like a freaking genius. At least with Lady Gaga you get the impression there's something more than air between her ears.
I'd have to disagree, this girl/her family wanted a short cut to fame/fortune/celebrity, so they threw money at it, they opened themselves up to all this.

Ya - I was reading some of the "backlash to the backlash" last night.
I admire that they "Took a shot" and posted something on the internet.....I can respect that, to a degree.
Nobody would be complaining about the millions of fans had the little purchase/stunt worked. They tried and failed miserably....the mockery has been fully earned.
The sad thing is, I have listened to this song like 4 times now in showing it to people and every time I think more and more, "You know, considering this is a 13 year old, it doesn't sound that bad really, in fact it sounds just like half the stuff on whatever terrible radio station my wife listens to".

After seeing her name all over the place for the past week I never knew who she was so when I clicked on this thread I decided to finally listen to her.

I actually agree with the author of that article: the behaviour of many people on the internet is far, far more vicious than in real life where they are not anonymous and are accountable for what they say.
It's actually lamentable the degree to which the internet runs on rumour and opinion, and is flat out judgmental, merciless and vindictive.
That said, the song is proof that not just anyone can write a teen pop song.

If someone had played it for me and told me it just made the Top40, I'd believe them.
I hate most pop music.
I don't understand the personal hatred toward Beiber or Cyrus or whomever though.

I remember something IFF said in a conversation once; that before the internet you had to look a guy in the eye and decide that he deserved to be hated.
That is apparently a very important social boundary.
