Parents drew inspiration from mythology, history and the Bible in 2010 with names such as Noah, Jacob, Joshua, Apollo, Zeus, Maximus, and Leonardo for boys; and Sarah, Eden, Eve, Jezebelle, Pandora, Athena, and Aphrodite for girls.
I don't see that ending well...

More like Lamian! I'm just kidding. I don't have an issue with Damian, I just wanted to be mean. Congratulations though!

No, I just like the name. I have already heard the Omen argument and how it is the name of the devil's son which is not true. The name means Tame and there was even a St. Damien. When people relate it to a horror movie I point out that people did not hesitate to name their children Jason, or Freddy, or Michael. I also remind them that if they want to go by a movie I will go with Father Damian Karas, the priest that sacrificed his life to stop the Exorcist.

.....so if i'm reading this right, the fact that my wife crossed Optimus Prime off the short list is a good thing?!?!?

back in high school one of my buddies went by dave, but his real name is dragan. his folks are originally from Croatia and i guess at the time it was a very common name! how bada$$ is that - dragan - i love it... but i'm pretty sure that would get crossed off the short list too!!! ha! ha!!

I pushed for Ashton Jackson Galakanokis. A play on the awesome 80's movie Action Jackson. Wife shot it down.

From the 2009 Girls' name list: Sukhmandeep

Also funny: Unique...Two girls with that name. Wouldn't it be great if they ended up in the same class?

I named my son "Liam", but it was 16 years ago. At that time it was a rare name. The only one I knew of was Liam O'Flaherty, an Irish author. My wife and I both chose it independently, so it was a no-brainer. Also, she didn't like my other names: Barney, Homer, Jorge and Suspicious.
