Why do you have to come into a thread hyping about a Flames prospect that looks to have some skill and hopefully a NHL career and just turn on the negativity... We don't have a lot of 'top end' prospects in the system and it's exciting as a fan to see a 3rd round draft pick lighting it up.

Those players clearly would have made it if they didn't play in the NHL when they were 18. Howse missed as a 20(19?) year old. Whatever though I got hopes he can be a top 6 forward.

Fair enough, they still didnt make it years they were drafted high and then they were playing in the NHL the next year.

Yeah, but Seguin got cut when he tryed out the year before he got drafted... the others I agree with. But still, not making Team Canada means nothing when it comes to success in the NHL.

Just like being a high draft pick doesn't mean you'll be a great player. Howse has the work ethic from what I've heard to be successful. He's got the natural ability to find the back of the net, and that is something that can't be taught. But a player can be taught how to be better defensively.... I do think he will easily be a top 6 player.

I'm not trying to be negative, I have nothing but high hopes for this kid but let's try to be realistic here. Personally I'd be very happy if he ends up making the team and can some day play on the second line but I'm certainly not expecting it.

This year, Team Canada simply went with a type of team and system that didn't include Howse's skill set. They wanted big bodied forwards that could physically punish the opposition, block shots, and play a relatively conservative offensive game. If they were going for a little more of a skilled puck possession with a lethal power play type of team, Howse could have easily been in the Team Canada World Juniors picture.

For a third round pick, if this kid sees any sort of role with the big club, it's a bonus. I think based on his performance, that's somewhat realistic.

Something to cheer up Flames fans a bit. Howse has scored his 50th goal of the season tonight. Working on a 4 point game so far.

How many games does Chiliwack have left this season? Do they have a shot at the playoffs?

Not sure how many games left, but they are currently in 6th place and have been playing pretty well lately. They should make the playoffs if they continue playing well.

I believe they have 3 games left.

Edit - I think they actually have 4 left.

Last time I looked at the WHL standing they were 4 points out of 8th but had some games in hand. Looks like the team is making a good charge.

Also good news on Bennett, that guys has been on fire since coming over at the trade deadline.
