That is incredible. Note the cars trying to get away at 1:35 and 2:33. How far in-land did that get?

Watching the video with those people trying to drive away in advance of the tsunami, that was awful.

I recall when there was a tsunami warning for Hawaii a couple of years ago CNN had live video of a guy just hanging out in the ocean. Luckily that time the tsunami didn't cause much of anything beyond high tides. Just goes to show the extreme idiocy (or deathwish) many people have.

Glad the waves settled before hitting Canada. Port Alberni is in a really bad spot, at the back of a long, narrowing, shallowing inlet. They got hit hard once in the 60's. The town I was in got evacuated on the Charlottes once, there was a big party up on the hill.

I saw that earthquake on CNN. Man, that was a long earthquake and a small tsunami to boot. I experienced a big earthquake when I was young but not that long. I think the one I experienced was for a little over a minute and it was definitely a scary thing because things were moving and things are falling.

There are always idiots that think they are clear of danger. These are the folks who go back country with no supplies or hike across a glacier in running shoes or walk onto wet rock and get wasted by a giant wave. These people get no sympathy from me. Some people just don't have a good understanding of the raw, unmerciful power of nature.

Figured daylight would prove to be ugly...and unfortunately thats what is happening.

The damage is so widespread its impossible to grasp.

just heard that 4 trains are missing....vanished.

A large swath of where the Tsunami hit was affected only 16 minutes after the earthquake...meaning that no one had enough time to get out of the way. It moved a full 6 miles inland.....unreal.

The tsunami's are a far worse disaster than the earthquake alone. Those videos are just pure devestation. It seemed like the water was going to go forever and devour everything in its path.

It reads all posts that were not hidden by privacy settings and throws them up. The vast majority of people are smart enough to do that...but...

I'm not at all surprised with the sheer ignorance of the American masses.
