If you don't like Cowboys or the people that are in it why do you go or care? It seems like a lot of people bitch and moan over that place.

It's strange, earlier this week, I was looking at the Stampede's development plans for the Stampede Trail area, and I was wondering if they might put a Cowboys style night club as one of the anchors.
There's a large empty lot directly east of the Casino that's a little larger than the space where Cowboys last location was. I could see them building a new nightclub there, attached to the Casino.
It looks like there will be a tent in place for Stampede Week too: http://www.cowboysniteclub.com
It says the tent will be southeast of the current casino, so they'll probably have a door from the show room (which is also in the SE corner of the building, I believe) out to the tent.

So what hapened to Cowboys anyway?
I make it out to Cowtown two or three times a year and it was tradition to head there at least once... why did it shut down?

the plans they have are huge! i've known about this for awhile, i absolutely hate Vickers but if he pulls this off the concerts are going to be off the hook. As a few high end resturants are being planned as well. Calgary's music scene will explode!

I say make a high end casino row, kinda like Canada's own Vegas/Dubai (a new red mile) and have the strip lead up to the NEW and Biggest dome in the NHL.
Sort of a statement that says "we built this out of our own pockets"
Make it a holiday destination.
During hockey season make a game/gamble/playoff on the red mile and Banff ski weekend.
During the summer big name acts/gamble/Banff/Minor league Ball on strip ball park/Stampede.

The building that it was in was torn down...both the original one on 9th Ave and then the replacement they had on 10th and Olympic.
It will be interesting to see if Cowboy's having a tent/open area will have an effect on Nashville North this Stampede.

It's called progression, 2 office towers replacing a run-down eyesore of a building.
And speaking from experience it couldn't have happened to a better "businessman". Vickers is an asshat and should move his shady ways back to Edmonton where he belongs.

The original location was in Penny Lane, which was a small shopping centre on the edge of downtown. It was closed down for the construction of a big new office tower. So, they moved it to another one of the places they owned that had been called Coyotes (and before that, for a long time Dusty's Saloon), which is just a few blocks north of the Stampede grounds. When they moved, they already knew that they had a limited life-span there because the City had acquired the land for the construction of a tunnel under the train tracks at 4 St SE.
Vickers had attempted to acquire a couple of different locations around downtown for a more permanent home of Cowboys, but they were blocked by the governing bodies who would have had to approve zoning changes. As a result, they couldn't find anywhere to put a nightclub. Since the Stampede Board has already been approved for this type of development, presumably, a lot of the previous hurdles won't be present.

The second location of Cowboys on 4th street SE had to be demolished to make way for the 4th street underpass. But they always knew that the move there was a temporary solution.

I'd be interested to know how many of the Vickers bashers actually know him... My guess would be no...

I've been saying for a long time that the Stampede Casino needs a nightclub inside it. Cowboys isn't my first choice, but the set up will be pretty cool, and hopefully will give the nightclub a bit of a vegas feel.
Now if a few of the city's hotels would add a nightclub or two, we'd be that much closer to living in a big city.

Victors is the biggest D-Bag in the city, and frankly, hearing that your friend said that, odds are he's also a D-Bag.

I'm more inclined to think that of someone who slings the D-Bag insult around even when he doesn't know the person he is insulting.

Let alone spell the name of the person he is insulting correctly. The "t" must be silent.

I'm sure they don't force you to go into Cowboys just to gamble. Just like Casinos in Vegas don't make you visit their bars or clubs when gambling.
