This is barely a dent in California's anchovy population. Most people do not realize how abundant species like anchovy are.

Another reason we need to be eating more prey fish and stop eating big predator fish as we are killing those stocks.

"Prey fish" fisheries have shown vulnerability too. Many of them have collapsed and reopened in the last century. See B.C.'s herring and sardine fisheries.

We really just need to harvest all species in a sustainable way. It isn't about which species of fish we target. It's about not overfishing the species we do target.
