Hajek of the Czech Rep. blows 2 sets points in the 3rd set tiebreak and now trails again 2 sets to 1 against Kazakhstan. What a turning point that could prove to be.
Austria and France are entrenched in a battle. 1 set each and 3-3 in the 3rd.

Hajek never got those 2 blown set points out of his head and he tanks the 4th set 6-0. Kazakhstan! Czechs are more pissed off than the Croats!
First time ever in the World Group advances to the Quarterfinals and a trip to Argentina.
France is now in control of the final tie up 2 sets to 1 and a break.. Austria running out of steam. Even the crowd is tired after cheering for about 8 hours straight.

Now that the fun of Davis Cup is complete, back to business.
Next up, the ATP 1000 and WTA Premier BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells.
96 men and 96 women in the tournament so it's like a mini-grand slam.
Milos Roanic has been granted a wildcard for the event and will be in Tuesday's draw.
The top 32 get a bye to the 2nd round. Raonic will get a relatively easy opponent in the 1st round but will get one of the 32 seeds in the 2nd round.. it can be anyone.. even Federer and Nadal!
The men's qualifying draw has not been displayed yet so I don't know if any Canadians will be on it.
As for our Canadian women. Marino and Wozniak have to qualify. In fact Rebecca Marino is the #1 seed as 48 WTA players bid for one of 12 places in the main draw when qualifying action gets underway Monday. Win two matches and you're in!
The draw: http://www.bnpparibasopen.com/~/media/E0FC74E9BE974218BA3ABD3C8AB4EE5B.ashx
Wozniak is first up tomorrow 11MT. Marino will be up in the late afternoon.
Should be an exciting couple of weeks!

Quick question for those in the know..... Does Raonic gain ATP points for performances in the Davis Cup?

Not yet. Players can only use Davis Cup results in World Group or World Group Playoff events. The total Davis Cup points for the year can be used as an ATP 500 event. So in reality it's not really worth it and not many players use it unless they were really bad in 500 events.
For example, last year Serbia won the Davis Cup and Djokovic got 425 points for it, which is really peanuts for the effort it takes to play a bunch of Davis Cup 5 set matches.

Wozniak wins the first set 6-3 then promptly drops the 2nd set 6-0!
Not good.....
EDIT: Wozniak is out of qualifying.. defeated 3-6, 6-0, 6-1.
That's just a ridonkulous scoreline.

I wasn't following too closely....did she get hurt? Or can we just attribute those two stinker sets to not being tough mentally.

No idea, just saw the livescore.
Marino is finally on court, she's up a set and a break now.
Also, the men's qualifying draw has been published.
http://www.bnpparibasopen.com/~/media/E551387546744F87ACD91BB06D13BA3E.ashx
Dancevic is the 20th seed and Polansky is the 21st seed. It's kind of funny, it says Polansky is playing "ALTERNATE" tomorrow, 2nd up on one of the courts. If you can't beat ALTERNATE, you don't deserve to be in! Again, win two matches and you're in the main draw.
Finally, the women's main draw is out:
http://www.bnpparibasopen.com/Scores/~/link.aspx?_id=B045E18AF32847D4B3C4DE33AB9C51FE&_z= z
As you can see, all the big names are there.
The men's main draw will take place tomorrow afternoon! There are some dangerous non-seeds out there. Milos, Del Potro, Dogopolov, Hewitt. Where will they go?

Marino wins 7-5, 7-5.
Mango: I'm hearing that Wozniak was injured again, might be out for awhile.

SO THAT's who ALTERNATE IS!
Bopanna should be dead tired, flew in from Serbia after Davis Cup.

Polansky just lost to ALTERNATE! 7-6, 3-6, 7-5
Dancevic won the 1st set but lost the 2nd set and is now down a break in the 3rd.
Marino has won the first set in her 2nd round qualifying match.

Dancevic pulled himself together and won the tiebreak so maybe that will help his confidence out. Polansky should have done better than that since the Indian guy is a doubles specialist but he wasn`t a local scrub off the streets or anything (what I was expecting when I saw alternate too!).
Most interesting to me is the main draw in that Raonic is in the same 1/4 of the bracket as Federer - what a match that would be if Raonic keeps it up!
Would have to beat Mardy Fish in the second round but I the other two guys between him and fed are beatable, a Spanish clay specialist and a Turkish guy just outside the top 100.

Dancevic wins the 3rd set tiebreak! Lives to fight another day!
Marino also wins, she's now in the main draw.. location will be determined tonight with another draw!
The Men's Main Draw is released: http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2011/404/mds.pdf
Milos Raonic is in Section 8..bottom right of the 2nd page.
He get the 120th ranked Ilhan of Turkey first.. should be a breeze.
Then #13 Fish in the 2nd round...rematch of the Memphis semifinal.
Looming in the 4th round.. Roger Federer!
I think it's a great draw.. as good as could be.
--- matty81 beat me. Just a slight correction. He's in the same 1/8 of the draw as Federer

Rebecca Marino has been placed in the draw.
http://www.bnpparibasopen.com/~/media/270DDB944E194BE0BC9ED07C675061B7.ashx
She is in Section 2. She plays ranked #41 Ekaterina Makarova of Russia probably on Thursday. That was one of the worst case scenarios. The winner gets #8 Victoria Azarenka. How important is this tournament? There are no lucky losers! All 96 women are there.
Frank Dancevic plays his 2nd round qualifying against Alex Bogomolov Jr of the USA, around 1pm MT.

Dancevic just got broken and Bogman held serve, 5-3 now - big ask for him to make the main draw...
*Edit - he's a goner, all about Milos and Marino now.
