I don't get you 3D haters. Do you prefer your real life in 2D too?

This is not something I will pay extra for. Just another gimmick to siphon more dollars from movie goers.

Well, it's not really 3D. It's an unconvincing fake. Since most of us (other than piratical eyepatch wearers) experience reality in three dimensions all the time, I find it strange that anyone at all thinks it's much more than an annoying gimmick.

Unconvincing fake? 2D is a much less convincing fake of a 3D than 3D. I don't get your argument at all.

If your brain thinks it's 3D, then it is.
I thought TRON in 3D was great, really added to the experience. Properly done 3D is awesome, I hope more studios go this route. And the tech is constantly improving.

Be careful what you wish for. As the technology behind 3D improves so will the cost to movie goers. It costs the price of a home to install a 3D projector in a movie theater. When technology changes the projectors will have to be replaced also. Who do you think will be paying for those added costs?

Am I the only one who was un-impressed with TRON 3D?

Nope, the 3D didn't do anything for me and the movie was pretty brutal as well.
Tron 3D was a huge letdown for me.

Maybe it made a difference that I saw it in Imax 3D. But imo it was the best 3D film I have seen thus far.
One thing that did really bug me, was the reasons people were bashing it. Specifically the plot holes within the grid. Or how will Clu and his army materialize in the real world, where is the matter going to come from??...etc, etc. Well, I think the suspension of reality starts the second Flynn gets lazer tranported in the first film into the computer. Everything after that point requires a complete suspension of any plausible reality, going forward into any number of sequels. If you look at the film, for what it is. A beautifully conceptualized and shot sci-fantasy light show, it is an incredible movie, with a mind blowing soundtrack.

I personally love all the add-ons they keep bringing to the movie experience. It's just another step closer to the holodeck.

I only hate 3D, because it has become the main focus of a lot of movies, instead of the actual content of the movie.

Yeah but usually the movies destined to become 3d aren't usually Oscar winners. I don't think people are clamoring for the King's Speech to be made in 3D. It just adds another layer to the type of movie that's merits are usually based on the visual aspects of the film.

I think when 3D is done properly it can add a lot to the experience. Avatar and Pixar movies are ones that stand out to me. Alice in Wonderland was the only movie I've seen where they didn't shoot it in 3D but added it after and it was pretty lack luster. I think the push by TV manufactures to put 3D in homes is preemptive and is just a sales gimmick at this point. 3D does have it's problems in the theatre too. Some people (not me) don't have the effect work for them and/or it's gives them headaches. Also because of the glasses you have to wear it cuts a lot of light from hitting your eyes and it dims the picture a lot.
I would have to try these seats first, but they seem pretty gimmicky too.

Yeah, pretty much.
There will always be a new gimmick, a new way to try and squeeze more money from me.
Can't say I'm even remotely interested in these seats.

No way will I pay for this when I am lucky enough to get some kid kicking the back of my seat every time I'm in a movie theatre.
It's an interactive adventure!

Cheese was probably there.
But there is actually a new kick at that idea - Scentscape

I hope they install showerheads on the ceiling of the theatre as well, for scenes in the movie when it's raining.
Or giant fans for movies like Twister.
