According to Amazon.com it is hybrid mac/windows. Might go grab it tonight and test it out on Mac. Worse comes to worse I can run it on boot camp.

I got Dragon Age 1 for Christmas on steam. It's installed and I still have never actually run the game. It'll probably take 2 years to pass. So I guess I won't be buying DA2 for another 3 years which will be good for me because it will be $9.99 with all DLCs by then and the modders will have fixed everything wrong with it.

The "PC" version you buy from retailers is indeed a PC/Mac install. Steam only has the PC version right now, but that should change to the SteamPlay (PC/Mac) version in the future.
The only thing that sucks is that I can't seem to activate my retailer-purchased copy on my Steam account (like I was able to do with Civ 5).

Nice. I wonder if the Mac version runs native or if they rushed it and turned it into a crappy Cider port.

EA is fighting back against Steam's virtual monopoly over digital distribution. That's why you can't activate your retail copy on Steam.
Also, you can't get the Signature Edition on Steam. That's a in-store or EA Downloader exclusive to get the extra $20 of items/quests + extra companion or whatever.

Some things:
Glad to see the "turn persistent gore off" feature back.
Glad to see a "show helm" option
Missing the "select entire party" button.

There was a turn persistent gore off feature in the first one?! Lol I never even thought to look, but I thought it was highly annoying.

Heh. It was one of the first things I looked for after playing about 20 minutes through the opening of the first one. No one I asked left persistent gore on, though I imagine a few folks did somewhere. It was the first thing I looked for even in the demo options, this time.

Don't know if you mean for PC/Mac but on the console it's R1 + L1

Sorry, yes. I play the PC version.
They do have all the party portraits close by, and I can just hold shift and click them all...but I liked that there was a single button in DA:O that selected every party member with a single click.

^^^ Yeah I could see how that would be a bit of an annoyance. How is everything else so far?
Almost time to go home and play days like this kill me.

Are there not customizable key-bindings that let you map it to something? (You've probably already checked this, but you never know)

Yes, actually, it's just me being a bit fussy and missing the old button on screen. Right now, if I hit CTRL+A, it gets me the entire party.
Any of the first four F buttons selects that corresponding party member.
Pressing Shift+F button adds that member to the selected party.

Really enjoyable. Combat seems smoother and faster, which is nice. The storyline is pretty engaging, which is important to me. Graphics are a notch over the previous, to be sure.
Camera management seems a bit dicey, with some odd angles just seeming to appear as I move throughout places. Ground detection is also a bit odd, and trying to mass move the party through a narrow region with clicking doesn't work too well, but using the WASD movement keys makes up for it easily enough.

I am really enjoying the game. So far not quite as good as DAO but DAO was pretty amazing.
I would give DAO 9.5/10 and DA2 9.0/10.
I think they, similar to Mass Effect 2, oversimplified some aspects of the game but its not a serious gripe.

for those on the PC version, Bioware has released a patch to allow high resolution textures for DA2. you'll need a graphics card capable of DX11 though to see a difference

Off topic but I'm wondering what BioWare does about Mass Effect 3 in that regard.

Sweet.
I don't really understand how a DX11 card is required for high-res textures...

Hearing something weird about this game, would like to ask about confirmation (was in class at the time). Apparently Bioware shut down their forums for a little (it's up now) because the babies off of 4chan decided to spam the place to hell and back (something about not liking it turn into a more action-y game than the original).
