WTA Monterrey Round of 16.

Aleksandra Wozniak (CAN) vs Gisela Dulko (ARG) at 4pm MT.

Wozniak has one advantage against the 56th ranked Argentine as Dulko finished her match at close to midnight last night while Wozniak hasn't played since Tuesday. However, Dulko is a very solid player and is also the top doubles player in the world. Will be a tough one.

Looks like Raonic and Pospisil will play doubles together. I remember them beating Nadal and Djokovic at the Rogers Cup last summer.

Wozniak loses 6-4, 6-1. Tough loss but still a good week for her making it through to the 2nd round.

She makes $2950 and gains 47 WTA points for her 3 qualifying and 1 main draw win.

-----

Davis Cup starts tomorrow (Friday) on Sportsnet ONE at 10am MT

1st Rubber: Daniel Garza vs. Frank Dancevic
2nd Rubber: Manual Sanchez vs. Milos Raonic

The Mexican Daniel Gruza doesn't look like much of an athlete (overweight). If the rest of the Mexican team is similar then Canada should have no problems. Dancevic up 4-1 in the first set.

Looks like they're playing on loose gravel in the middle of some sort of shantytown with exactly the type of umpiring you'd expect in such a venue

The Mexican has really picked it after going down 2-0. Dancevic has loss confidence.

Yep. This weekend is probably going to be close now between Nestor not showing for doubles and that upset starting things off. Hopefully Raonic can help Canada bounce back here.

Do you think they go with Polansky instead of Frank against Sanchez on Sunday? That was a pretty weak performance.

Ya I was thinking the same thing myself. Polansky is their second ranked player (even though Dancevic has been injured a ton) although he doesn't exactly have a good history in Mexico lol.

The way Raonic is playing these days Canada needs to win one of their singles or doubles match and they should have it. I don't think he plays alot of doubles but that serve is a weapon at least and I think he'll hammer the chubby guy who beat Dancevic in singles.

The Raonic match is first on Sunday, so if he wins all his 3 matches than Canada can just pack up and go home winning 3-1 I hope that's the case because I don't trust Dancevic or Polansky in a 5th and deciding rubber.

Dancevic has a great deal of talent, but is really weak mentally. This isn't the first time he's crumbled like a cracker in situations like this. It's too bad that he can never focus.
