I was watching the NLL all star game on the weekend from I believe Rochester. The arena looked no bigger then the soccer dome. I could not believe they played in something like that, not to mention hold an all star game there.
So if they be succesful in an arena like that then I don't see how the necks can't be successful in the Dome unless they pay out 95% off all money that comes in.
EDIT
I guess the arena they play in is the The Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial and can seat 11,887. It must have just been bad camera angles or something but it looked like it could hold less then a 1000.
EDIT 2
I guess I should have looked at the game itself, it was played at a casino.........and how can anyone call this a bush league?

I didn't even know the season had begun until I started hearing about this situation being talked about on 960 (and I do listen to 960 quite often).

And part of the problem is that the Roughnecks can't really afford to advertise, they're stuck with basically being guests and the like on radio stations and hoping for coverage in the paper (its not their job to give free PR to the team). Really announcing that the team was in the financial toilet is all the "advertising" that Bannister could do.
If the Flames bought them that would undoubtedly change, so if they're willing to take on the costs of running the team and trying to increase the gate then things could really work out. If not, it will just (tragically) add to the long list of failed NLL teams.

speculation that investors have been found

Don't know how trust worthy this site is though. Presser was supposed to be an hour ago you would think some info would have leaked out if it was legit

SBN is usually ok, though no clue on that individual blogger. That said, nothing of note on an NLL messageboard I am aware of, so I think that rumour was bogus.
Interestingly, someone (who I would assume is associated with Bannister) went after said message board for some comments in their thread over the Roughnecks' situation. Be careful what you say here, or Bingo might get a visit from some goons.

Looks like 2 guys stepped up and they will keep playing as per twitter
KO_herald
#Roughnecks announce they will play next road trip in Washington. 2 business men stepped up. Players have all been paid.
So looks like everything is still going. not sure if they have stepped in to help from here on out or just to help catch up on player payments

Well, if they are playing the road game in Washington, they are playing the rest of the season, as it would be rather stupid to fund the team through three more weeks of road trips than fold before returning home.
Once again, hell of a schedule, NLL.

They're basically the Coyotes of the NLL right now, only with a much more minor league feel.
If nobody is actually coming forward I doubt its true, and I don't expect the team to be around next year either. Which will suck, but seems par for the course in the NLL.

Yeah, even the home attendance figures are alike (even though this is NHL vs. NLL...)

Roughnecks are finally home tonight... and the Flames are offering 20% off tickets. Will be interesting to see what the crowd is like.

More accurately, Flames STH's were sent emails with a code offering 20% off tickets. They've done this a few times in the past - using the Flames fan base to promote Roughnecks tickets.

They run the concessions at the Dome, so they benefit from having more people in the building. I'm sure it costs them nothing to offer the discounts and for the Roughnecks, $30 for a discount ticket to a Flames STH is better than $0 from that person.
As has already been mentioned, I can't believe how expensive their tickets are. Even with the discount, the cheapest seats are $30. Yes, I pay more than double that for my Flames tickets but the Flames are my family, the Necks are just some girl I met in a bar and she's not all that attractive.

Maybe have a couple players on for interviews.
It seemed like 960 did very little of that this year as compared to years past.

Just go to Safeway and get vouchers for $20.

11000 fans I see at the game vs Edm, hopefully they can have good crowds for the rest of the year, then the owner can come to his senses and sell the team to the flames and this Roughnecks mess is over.
If he has been talking with the Flames that means there is interest there, but that he doesn't like the price. If he truely cared about about not being able to pay his players then he'd move the team to an owner that can.

I wondering the same thing recently. Usually Pat Steinberg does interviews and talks up the Roughnecks a bunch since he was doing play-by-play. What happened to that?

A lot of that has to do with the fellow running the Roughnecks, not the radio, tv or papers in the city.
