And on an actual positive note, it looms as though Ben Arfa could potentially play again before the end of the season.

Quote:
His progress following surgery has gone some way to dispelling fears he would not play again this season and there have even been reports claiming he could be in contention for a first-team recall by the middle of March.

No thanks to Insomnia. Having Ben Arfa back before the end of the season would be a pleasant surprise. He showed well in his couple of games before the injury, it'd probably be good for him to get in some games before the start of the next season.

It is being covered in all the media here now.

Also, there is to be no action taken against Rooney.

Yeah I saw that, just wasn't about to buy it until there was a source other than NOTW, especially with their history regarding Cole.

Defoe injured again.

Quote:
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has bemoaned his side's injury problems after confirming that Jermain Defoe suffered an ankle injury during the club's warm-weather training camp in Dubai.

Defoe broke down during a session in Al Ahli's Rashid Stadium on Sunday where Spurs were training as part of their five-day break between matches.

Well, no surprises here:

Quote:
Kevin Keegan has told Alan Pardew not to make plans for the £35 million Newcastle raised in selling Andy Carroll to Liverpool.

"I saw an interview with Alan Pardew where he said he hoped to get some of the £35 million and I thought 'Alan, you ain't going to get any of that','' he told Radio Five Live.

I found this a bit interesting in terms of potential suitors for Mark van Bommel in the summer transfer window:

Quote:
Anzhi, who have signed Roberto Carlos and made an attempt to bring Ronaldo out of retirement, are believed to be keen to add another star name to the squad. A source quoted in the Russian media said: "Now is the right age to think about the end of his career and to sign an advantageous contract."
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/st...summer?cc=5901

Okay, Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo were legends in their time, but they've got to be joking. In my opinion Ronaldo is one of the single greatest players of all time, but his prime was a long, long time and many, many knee surgeries ago.

Further proof that these Russians are out of their damned minds. I sincerely doubt Roberto Carlos will be making too many of those trademark runs down the wing at his age. He still might be the single greatest free-kick taker in the world though, that guy was magic with a dead ball.

Either way, I am a big fan of Mark van Bommel, I think he'd be a good fit in Liverpool's midfield....

Yeah, not impressive, hurt during the Carling Cup final loss and will miss the CL match with Barcelona. That is not a good deal for the Gooners.
