Like him or not, Charlie Sheen has balls of steel. He lives his life for himself and makes no apologies for it. I applaud him.....
I listened to his radio interview yesterday and I didn't think it was that bad. He is no angel, but I also don't believe most of the stuff the celebrity media writes about him either.
I really enjoy Two and a Half Men. It is tons better than any reality-based shows, period. I enjoy "male" humor with all the sex jokes etc., it is a nice break from all the politically correct family dufus type shows out there.

Monosyllabic and glaringly obvious humour, I'm shocked it's your brand.

95% of sitcoms are "glaringly obvious humour"...
If Chuck Lorre likes money, and I'm sure he does, the show will go on. Two and a Half Men without Sheen would fail badly.

Here's my problem with that. The guy has had multiple marriages and had kids. At some point you have to stop living for yourself and start living at least paritially for the people immediately around you.
Being the frat house partier is cool, but once you hit 35 or 40 maybe its time to stop and grow up. Sheen isn't just harming himself, but he's also harming everyone around him, so in that way he's you're typical addict in that he brings destruction to everyone around him.
You could argue that John Belushi was cool, but in the end he was just another sad story who's now turned into hair and finger nails.
We know that Chris Farley was the same way and other celebs that poisoned themselves.
Addiction is no better then hanging yourself or cutting your wrists or however you want to off yourself, it just takes longer and tortures those around you.
Living life for you is never living life for yourself.

I really enjoyed it for the first couple of years, but now they're just re running the same plots over and over again.

I love 2 And a Half Men, I also love Dexter, Breaking Bad, The Office...
Sometimes after a hard day constantly going over numbers and plans etc it's nice to get home and have a few brainless laughs. I can easily see why this show is so popular.

There is a probable philosophical causation between democratic politics and the decay of the arts.

His ex and kids are all very well paid and probably have little to do with him, trust me, a poor alcoholic dad will eff up his kids way more.

Poor alcoholic dad isn't a TV star who is constantly in the papers and tabloids distrubuted all over the continent. I bet Sheen's kids are home-schooled so they don't have to deal with their peers and be embarassed.

Nah, they are all hanging out with David Hasselhoff and Mel Gibsons kids at Effed' Up High's Beverly Hills campus, they offer science, math, socials, counseling and detox 101.

Well said. I am not kidding myself - if I was single and had too much money, I'd be doing the exact same thing, minus the excessive booze and coke...

Its great that they're getting money. But how much fun is it for kids to watch their dad basically killing himself live? And seeing their dad coking up and doing porn stars and drinking his liver into a resentfull hard stone instead of spending time with them has to be crushing.

I think those vanity cards are funnier than the shows that Chuck Lorre makes, to be honest.

Big Bang Theory is pretty funny, and 2 1/2 Men does have its moments.

I would debate whether that is a character flaw, or strength.
So if all that Charlie Sheen did was bang pornstars, and did none of the booze or drugs or domestic abuse, how would society perceive him?
Tiger Woods immediately comes to mind. He is Charlie Sheen minus the booze, drugs and domestic abuse. Society seemed to be more shocked and appalled by Tiger than by anything Charlie has done in the last twenty years.
I guess it all comes down to appearances and expectations.

Except that Charlie Sheen never ever promoted himself as the all american family man.
Tiger did, it was one of the tenants of his marketing strategy.
Thats why the backlash against tiger.

He also makes the Bing Bang Theory....I don't think that Lorre is strapped for cash, and it may be better for his future to avoid all of the negative publicity Charlie Sheen is starting to attract and simply cut ties with him.
