Its funny with T.V. and how quickly comedy and content need to change.

If you go back and watch Gilligan's Island, a show that made me bust a gut, its just not that funny anymore.

The Brady Bunch was incredibly popular, now with the exception of the Marsha takes a football in the face episode, its just hasn't aged well.

Even some of the incredibly funny Drew Carey Episodes, the show Working (anyone remember that) men behaving badly and other shows that were great, just don't seem that funny because humor changes.

We wax poetically about the good old days, and I'm just as guilty as the rest especially on music. But in T.V. world shows don't age well at all.

I have no clue how that show is so popular. They use the same recycled sex jokes every episode.

Before they say anything I know exactly what they are going to say. Still think they are funny but $2 million an episode?

Read the cards. The censored ones are pretty interesting.

Interestingly the card from last nights Big Bang Theory says he's taking a break from his essay type cards.

I exercise regularly. I eat moderate amounts of healthy food. I make sure to get plenty of rest. I see my doctor once a year and my dentist twice a year. I floss every night. I've had chest x–rays, cardio stress tests, EKG's and colonoscopies. I see a psychologist and have a variety of hobbies to reduce stress. I don't drink. I don't smoke. I don't do drugs. I don't have crazy, reckless sex with strangers.

If Charlie Sheen outlives me, I'm gonna be really pissed.

Sometimes it's fun to just relax, turn off your brain and watch a show.
Honestly, that's fine. If people like the show because they want something that is brainless and easy to understand, then I have no problem with that. What I find really disappointing however, is when people go on about how smart the writing is and how great the actors are. The time and place for this show is at 10:30 at night, when married couples watch it in bed just before they fall asleep.

CHUCK LORRE PRODUCTIONS, #324

WARNING!
Do not attempt to replicate what you saw in tonight's episode of Two and a Half Men. Despite the seeming lack of serious consequences and regardless of the hilarity that ensued, this is extremely dangerous behavior and could result in injury or death. Please keep in mind that we employ a highly-paid Hollywood professional who has years of experience with putting his life at risk. And sadly no, I'm not talking about our stunt man.

He does seem to be ragging on Sheen rather constantly.

What if the fountain of youth formula can be built from precise measurements of liquor, drugs, and social diseases? I think its called the Monty Burns syndrome of eternal life and good on Sheen for pursuing valuable research

This one...
"He felt dead inside.

No matter how hard he partied, he could never escape that simple fact - inside, dead.

And that was his life.

Running from a feeling.

At least until he could run no more.

Exhausted, spent and beaten, when the end finally came, he welcomed it.

With life ebbing from his wasted body, he was suddenly swept up in a transcendent state of joy that was pure and complete.

Moments later he felt dead inside."

If that's about Sheen....It's really weird of him to publish something like that.
I've always hoped that when I hit retirement age I'm able to hit that level of crazy.

The writing "can" be smart and the acting "can" be good. It's not always the case, but the show has had some very, very good episodes.

And why is it "disappointing"? Why does it bother you if other people find it funny or find the writing good?

Life is what it is...go watch what you like.

It's disappointing because shows that are actually well written end up doing poorly and get cancelled while Two and a Half Men goes into syndication and is aired a dozen times a day.

Well, if people don't watch them, they don't watch them. People are who they are and unfortunately good shows get cancelled. I just don't think that this particular show is a good example of the types of shows you are talking about. 2 1/2 Men is not as bad as some make it out to be in my opinion.

Regardless, back on topic, I think that both Sheen and Lorre need to grow up a tad and all might be OK again.

Or, they might just do next season without Sheen...who knows.

I think it really speaks to how effed up Hollywood and the people who make this show are if a guy who is making $2 Million an episode comes out and says this stuff.

The thread titled should be changed to "Charlie Sheen HAS nuts."

I think that they should create a new show called two and a half woman. Its about two bisexual 20 year old woman who are raising the hot 18 year old niece of a friend who lost her legs in a tragic meat packing accident.

This show would have it all.

Sex sells, and Charlie has lots of sex and makes sex jokes. That's how the world works sometimes. Well written shows that take 20 episodes to get into are tough sells. I like Two and a Half Men because it consistently makes me laugh, which I can't say about too many comedy shows on TV.

I'd watch this. All the way until Oprah made her first appearance on an episode with Rosie O'Donnell. Then I'd kill myself.

Rosie O'Donnell was good in Nip/Tuck.

I think you have the wrong Rose playing Rose.

The character of Rose would be played by Rose McCowan, she'd still be missing a leg too.

SO the show would actually be named 3 and a quarter woman.

Because one legged McCowan and the niece without legs constitutes 1 1/4 woman.

Charlie Sheen lives the life that lurks secretly in a dark corner in every single man in the world. He just does it openly and blatantly, and makes $2 million an episode for letting us have a glimpse of what un-scrupulous sex, booze and drugs looks like.

It's funny seeing this vanity cards from Lorre aimed at Sheen in light of Sheen's "rant". Who knows, Lorre might be tiring of the show too and this might be a way to go out "on top" as it were. Kinda weird though. I dunno, there's probably a ton of network, executive, exmployee pressure etc. etc. to keep a popular show running even if the creative people can't stand it any more. Maybe that's all this is about - something rotting from the inside.

Lorre and Sheen can trade barbs all they want AFAIC. Lorre's always going to come out looking better.
