To be fair with the pocket 5's I didn't call your all-in until I had the set. I believe you did a small raise pre-flop and I hit, can't argue with that. Wasn't a donkey play or anything.
Frank, 3 people got points. Myself, Fire and jl(something, don't know the CP name). I think Fire is the shark of the group...gotta watch out for that guy!

How wrong you are my friend. You pushed preflop after a raise by me and I called. The situation you are referring to was with jl against his pocket tens.
How soon we forget how close we were to being eliminated
Good game though but I'm probably only going to be able to do midweek tourny's

Well for the amount of pot I smoke at the table it's no wonder I forget what happened.

I think my favorite part of last night, even before winning, was showing RTTR the bluff when he had QQ.

It was in your advantage that we hadn't played together before and when that K came on the flop your aggressiveness forced me to lay it down.
I remember these things though

Now the name "HOOT" makes so much sense!

I actually put you on a smaller pair than QQ but I figured that King kinda scared you so I kept playing like I had it.

It works but the name doesn't come from that. Just people saying my last name wrong and it kinda stuck as a nickname, but I guess it works both ways.

So I finally got a chance to check out that hand and it was actually Fire who raised it OTG. I had less than 10BB left so I went for it with pocket 5's.

We do them on non-Flames game nights and they play the next couple Fridays. But there will be one coming up in March. Check out the link in my sig for the dates and times set up already...if we can get enough people to play during a Flames game I'm down.

I assure you I will show up one of these days so I can show you all how to lose at poker in STYLE!

I never even noticed that! Ya I started using it because one of my buddies plays professionally online and needed a way to get his advice on hands without having to type out every thing. He is beyond crazy, he plays over 20 games at a time, I don't know how those guys do that while still watching what type of players they are playing against at each table. Blows my mind!
You can actually load in complete tournament data and you can watch every hand in a tourney. I don't use it as much as he does, he will watch old tournaments all the time while he is playing other ones.

I usually play 4 games at a time but like I was doing on Wednesday I play multi games as well. I usually have a mixed holdem game going, a 5 card draw tourny and a cap cash nl game with a turbo sng as well.
Keeps my mind sharp but my poker probably severly suffers. I look at poker as a form of entertainment though if i can sit for 4 hours and lose 20 bucks..money well spent

How do you keep track of the types of players you are playing against? Or do you just play your own hand and hope for the best?

I hate to say it but pretty much until I get down to final tables or into the money. Then I try to pay more attention.

When I used to play more regularly and well (check my my stats from 3-4 years ago), it was basically pointless to keep track of the random idiots early in a tourney. I really started watching for betting patters once it got down to the final 50 or so (in bigger tournaments), and I actually made notes on players. I was also an an avid reader and contributor to 2+2... Basically, this whole interwebz thing came 20 years too late for me. If only I had access to online poker when my mind was supple and brilliant at 18... I used to play 3-4 tourneys at a time in my late 30's, and I could play them all well. At 18-21 I can see being able to handle 20 tables - still seems sub-optimal, but who knows...

Ya I think the good players use things that keep track for them. Like I have heard Daniel Negreanu talking about it on a high stakes poker game where he was ribbing Dwan about using some type of program to play so many games online. Can't remember what he called it though...
