Default Amazing Race 8 - Family Edition (No spoilers till after it's aired in Calgary)

From the absence of the Amazing Race threads, I can tell the denizens of CP don't have this series high on the radar anymore. That said, the finale for the "Family Edition" is on tonight.

Almost everyone would agree that the Family Format has been a miserable failure. Without the challenge of foreign lands and languages, the show has lost something. Almost seems like Amazing Race Lite. The 4 person teams + 1 cameraman pretty much ruled out all foreign lands where they couldn't drive an SUV (not fitting into taxi's).

I've hated the Christian-by-Convienience Weavers since she told the helpful bystander they'd be "seeing each other in Eternity". They've just come across as a psycho trashy family. I suspect the entire state of Utah has declaed a jihad against them after they trashed the State in that one episode.

The Bransens sisters are hot & they wear yoga pants. No more needs to be said.

Being the most athletic, I think it's safe to say the Linz's are in the pole position here. I'm hoping for a crazy hard challenge today, like the locks on the great wall that just about took off Kendra's hand in AR6.

Should be a good one, they're in Canada, and they're curling! Maybe we'll make them down some Molson's and endure an 8 hr Emergency Room wait just to make it authentic!

I hate the Weavers out of almost all show contestants over, constantly bitching over how no one else is playing "christian", first off, HELLO! christianity is the culprit of many horrendous crimes over time and secondly christianity isn't the only religion out there! I also would like to note that they are the most ****y,arrogant, rude, annoying, cheating, complaining and team that has threatened to quit numerous times yet they accuse all of the others of the stuff they do better and more often than everyone else.

ie. in the preview for this finale the little blonde kid says hes going to get physical in the race with the dude from the Linz family, he then books it after him and pushes the Linz dude, Linz dude then knocks him down and all you hear is the mother bitching and moaning about it in the back "DONT TOUCH HIM"

EDIT- for those of you who have American sattelite or somehow have already seen it can you post a semi-detailed spoiler in white font for those of us who need one as I will be unable to watch tonight (I think) and it would also be nice to win some bets with some daft "friends"

I hate the Weavers.

Also, I heard from a friend who heard from a friend who has satellite, that following family wins

Linz

I'm a big fan of this series, I just hated the latest installment.

Too many people, and not enough countries visited. Got a little boring after a while just watching them drive around the States. Half the show is the fact they have to travel all over the globe, and try to communicate with people that speak different languages. This time, it was too boring.

Looks like the next one starts in Feb, in teams of two again, and globetrotting all over the place. Should be much, much better.

I used to love this show. After the mole it was easily my favorite reality show. However, considering that I missed the first two episodes because of work and then did not like the family aspect of the show I did not hav any desire to watch this installment. I would have to think that the family aspect has failed miserably and would hope that the producers see this.

I hope that this doesn't ruin the show entirely and that they realise that if they go back to the original format the show could work. However even with the original format I was getting tired of teams that didn't deserve to win winning the past two shows. I didn't like the freeze or whatever they called it as it punished the good teams and still find that inept teams are too easily rewarded with the ability to catch up. I realise the show would be no fun fun a team was 7 days ahead half way through the show but Colin and his chick were so much better throughout the show than the quitter chick and her man that ended up winning because of one good leg on the last show that it ****ed me off.

Congrats to the Linz family...they played hard and finally came out on top.
The fact the Weavers made it to the top 3 was amazing...They should have quit like they suggested they would.....ignorant stupid people.
Hated this version...and I am a Race junkie...watched maybe 2 episodes and the final....which was nice to see finish up in Canada.
Had to larf out loud when the teams were trying to speak french in Toronto....hilarious.

Hated the series but the finale was pretty exciting. I like the addition of a puzzle to solve right at the end so it's not just get out of the cab and run to the end.
I guess the lord wasn't listening to the dead beat Weaver family. Actually I felt sorry for the kids who have just a horrible mother that teaches them really bad examples. I kind of feel they had to both race and contend with their freak mom. It was so funny at times with her though. "why do they hate us, help us lord" then "don't wave to them"! lol

I watched the last episode last night, the only one I watched this season, it took all of 5 minutes to hate that little blond kid and his freakish family, the one daughter was kind of cute though, too bad mom is psycho. The family from Cinncinnati looked like they were having fun glad they won.

The Weaver family was pretty much the only reason I kept watching the show. I wanted to be able to see their elimination because they were one family that deserved it. Their hypocritical nature just bugged the hell out of me. The fact that they always held themselves up as "Christians" while they talked smack about the other teams by calling them names or just generally deriding their character was what had me cheering against them. Whenever they didn't understand something or if a task was difficult it was "stupid" for the Weavers.

As a footnote, I feel sorry for whatever guys end up dating those Weaver daughters. If a girl is 19 and she still calls her mother "Mommy" then odds are pretty good that she'll be farked in the head.

The weavers are most likely the reason my family doesnt go to church but does believe. You get people like that who think that crap like that actually matters and if you pray enough it will happen.

What a joke.

the right team won for sure. I always root for the teams that are entertaining, but also seem to be genuinely enjoying their experiences

the psycho Florida family spent the whole time mocking their OWN country...what would have happened if they actually had to travel anywhere

why did the Toronto CLUE actually call the CN Tower " tour CN" that was silly...almost as silly as Phil calling log rolling a sport 'popular in Canada'

but I digress. I'm sure the show is well aware this one was a complete bust and I expect a better season next year

Cute? You must of liked DJ Tanner too. I'll pass thanks. More Bransens for me!

I will give that the boy on the Weaver team credit, he kept that family in the hunt by doing the physical stuff. Didn't seem to do the sniping and bitching the women on his team were bad for. If that mom hadn't of decided to take that nap in the Olympic Stadium they might have won, although I'd bet the geography map wouldn't have been her strong point.

I'm guessing they'll try to really make a splash with some sort of all stars Amazing Race if they do AR 10. That'll be cool, I wonder how much those media whores Rob & Amber will want as their appearance fee....

The preview for AR 9 looked pretty good. Lets see here, one team of bimbos, check. One team of nerds, check. Obligatory old age team, check.

Should be great! Can't wait for February!

I watched the first two amazing race's but then stopped. I did watch the last few episodes of this season. I was pulling for the Linz's to win. Those weaver's were annoying. That must have been a biznitch tryin to find those 3 boxes at Olympic Stadium!

Glad that season is over.....I hope they never do that again. It was a crappy idea.

Febuarys looks pretty good though. Looking foward to it. Seeing out of the way places and scenery is one of the best parts of the race.
