Default Samsung A660 Phone is Junk!!

Anyone have this phone? I constantly am having echos, dropped calls and originally I was picking up other peoples calls. It was sent in for repair, but that did not seem to fix much. Also Bell is useless. $600 to get out of my wifes (she has the same phone) and my contract. They won't give me a different phone, I can buy a new one for $150+ each.

Bascially it seems I am stuck in a 2year contract with a crappy phone. Any CP'er have any advice or work for bell?

$600 for getting out of both your contracts is Crazy.. I thought it was only $200 per contract

I have the phone too .. its ok .. its been dropping more calls lately I will probably be taking it in very soon to get it fix. I bought the extended warrenty so they will replace it if they can't fix it

I have the A660 and its the best phone I've had to date, and I've had over a dozen phones. While I would like more features in my phone I an hesitant to give up my A660 because its been so reliable. I think its your carrier. Strange situation.

Years ago I was having issues with dropped calls with a different phone and with Telus. I decieded "Fata it" and bought one of those stupid cell phone boosters off eBay; the ones that people sell for 1¢ and charge $10 shipping.

To my absolute suprise the dang thing worked. Not only did my missed/ dropped call rate go from about 20% to about 1% overnight, but I can use my cell phone in C-Train tunnels. (Cemetary Hill Tunnel is sometimes hit or miss though.)

Looking at the technology behind it; I'm sure a well placed piece of tin foil would do the same job.

Your mileage may vary.

I don't mean to hijack this thread but I've got a simple cellphone question and would appreciate any answers.

I'd like to ditch my service provider and just go with buying those phone cards as needed. I own the phone and pay no penalties for getting out. The provider wouldn't give me any answers because they don't want me doing this obviously.

So screw them. But I don't know how. I know this much:

1. Cancel plan
2. Buy phone card at Mac's
3. Now I'm lost. Does that "sim card" Rogers sent me that is in the phone need to be changed, taken out, crushed? Do I need one at all? Or does it come with the phone card I buy?

Thanks.

I used one of those Cell phone boosters things too.. and the sucker completely drained my battery. Full charge gone in about 12 hours and I didn't notice any difference in call quality either (no extra bars or anything)
But a friend who had almost the same phone said the same booster kept him on full bars all the time

I guess its on a phone by phone basis those things work
