Good set, I thought. Emily Haines didn't have the best vocal performance though.

I was at the game, and they sounded so much better live. I watched the performance on my DVR and CBC sound did it no justice. I actually thought it sounded terrible on CBC, and if I wasn't actually at the game i'd say the performance was horrible.

Metric was by far the best performance of the day.

Wow tough crowd. I was at the game and I really enjoyed Metric, I missed Tokyo Police Club due to being stuck in the concourse and unable to move in any direction.

Does anyone know if Tokyo Police Club's set before the game was pre-recorded or purely live? I'm not really into their musical style, but they sounded pretty damn good considering the elements and the location.

I'd heard of Metric but didn't really know anything about them until their performance. It wasn't great -- the weather wasn't really conducive to it -- but I appreciate that the NHL/Flames decided to get away from cheesy oldies Can-Con and go with some bands that are relevant today.

If it was The Guess Who playing I wouldn't have watched the performance at all...because I had heard of Metric but didn't know much about them, I was at least interested in hearing if they were any good.

In the end, I doubt that any of us were watching today for the musical performances...it's a bit like watching porn for the plot and dialogue.

Don't be fooled. When I was watching Bourque still floated like a cheap helium balloon. Goals be damned, he's a liability for you guys.

Dig your sound man, very cool. Black Keys is a good comparison as someone said on one of your vids, very clean sound though great mix on "How Do You". What do you play?? My band is in my sig as well, started self recording recently with a couple cover songs but we will have originals up soon & we also have our first album up if you wanna check it out. Keep up the good sounds though matty.

They might be a decent band, but they definitely weren't the right band for this kind of event.

Right, so since you're such a good guitar player, I guess you've played a show in front of 40000+ people? Didn't think so...

No, we're not trading him to the Canucks.

(And cheap helium balloons don't float, at least not for long.)

Haha owned.

Seriously to not acknowledge that this was one of Bourque's most complete games at least this year (maybe not season) would be short sighted...he carried that line, I can't think of the last time he carried anything.

LOL at all the hypocrites in here saying Metric is the best band in the world, and then crying when people disagree. OH AND they have to gall to say "if you don't like it then don't comment on it." If you don't like Mertic you must not know good music so GFTO of this thread!

If I started saying Nickelback is the best Canadian band of the last decade (um, they are- they have defined popular hard rock in this decade and had the top sales numbers) then people would be all over me and telling me I listen to crap music and I don't know what I am talking about!

That is the problem with indie music and their fans- they think they are soooooo cool because they listen to boring music. But they're smarter than the rest of us... and we obviously can't appreciate their crappy band in the way they were meant to be appreciated. These are the same people who think their shat doesn't stink.

ON topic: who watched the bands? I was too busy drinking beer and getting hammered to care. Go Nickelback, and go Flames!
