The only 1 that I have heard of is #10...Salar de Uyuni. I was there 1 1/2 years ago and it was incredible! One of the most amazing places I have ever been. I highly recommend it! We spent 3 days driving around the circuit in a land cruiser stopping at unusual rock formations, colourful lagoons, geysers, flamingoes...

My wife says it is the most beautiful place she has ever been to. I love the pictures she took like in the article, with the film of water on everything just reflecting like a perfect mirror. Amazing, hope to see it myself some day.

Been to 1/10 (Pamukkale). May have to find out more about Fly Geyser for my US roadie this summer.

Thanks for the link!

That area is gaining a reputation for destination rock climbing. There are apparently many first ascents just waiting to happen. I would love to go there.

The Enchanted Well, Pamukkale and Salar are the ones I like the best from that top-10. All of them are just amazing though, makes me want to finish up my education quicker so that I can get enough money to visit these places.

The world is a beautiful place, with so many sites unseen, unheard of, and just waiting to be found.

That and only 1% of the oceans have been explored. Makes you wonder what kind of unbelieveable species of animals are down there that we have no idea about.

Great thread btw.

It should. That's where James Cameron got the inspiration for Avatar's floating Hallelujah Mountains (if those are the Southern Sky Mountains in the pic. I know they're from China anyways).

Actually since the blowout success of the movie, China has re-named the mountain "Avatar Hallelujah Mountain".

Not sure if its the exact same mountain from the pic, but its gotta be around there.

I remember correctly from an old U of C class GOPH 375, those pools in Turkey used to be open to the public to swim in. Damage to them forced the government to close and protect them.

I had no idea what you were talking about so I googled "Ani". All I can say now is spectacular, indeed.
