CBC thinks today may have been the largest protest yet.. The google executives release from jail and subsequent interview on Egyptian cable seems to have given momentum to the protestors.
I received a message on Facebook from a friend I met while in Egypt. He lives in Cairo and is a native Egyptian:

Worth, Egyptians are very strong and we will get freedom and democrasy and we will make war with any one who is Corrupt and unjust, even if it is the President

Can't say I'm surprised. You dont spend 30 years in absolute power without becoming a little bit delusional. He probably believes hes earned every penny of the 20-70 billion people speculate he is worth.
I can't imagine people will just say "well, nice try guys, let's just go home now". Things could get a whole lot worse now.

Yeah I know the majority of the country wants him out...now. And I certainly understand it.
However...I think a major void would exist if he leaves right now without a really solid plan on who starts making decisions until September. Voids in government that big are most often exploited by those with the worst of intentions...particularly in that part of the world.
Clearly he is going to be gone after the election, in the mean time it could be complete chaos if he doesn't stay until then. This is probably the best way of this thing going down...in the long-term anyhow. Its a vulnerable time for that region and stability is essential after the amount of revenue lost the last 3 weeks because of this event.
I certainly understand the anger of those who want change, but this kind of thing takes time. Not sure there is anyone in place that could keep things together until Spetember beyond Mubarek....unfortunately.
I think it just became 'grab your torches and pitchforks' time in Cairo. This was, and should have been, the time Egypt's people took their country back.

Sounds like many are leaving the square with the Presidential palace dead in their sights.
