Holy Crap Mar is a clusterfata. He seems like that guy in every group that brings up the obscure and useless just to appear like he's relevant and "contributing"
Mar just says he thinks the tunnel is going through.
Stevens just beeyach slaps Mar, calling him out on a useless motion (on consulting the community on public engagement)

Mar is like that one guy every class has; the doofus who thinks he's contributing by raising his hand and asking dumb questions to the prof thinking he's smart while the rest of the class laughs at him for being an idiot.

Nenshi continues to impress me, this time with how gracious he is with morons like Mar. I would be pulling out my hair, and possibly a hand gun.

Reason: So far Nenshi excluded.

Shows a lot of Emotional Intelligence on Nenshi's part. Sometimes you have to feed the barking dog, sometimes you hose em' down with the hose. All a big part of effective leaders.

He also smartly leaves it to the alderman to point out Mar's stupidity, which isn't a bad idea.

I actually don't mind Chabot tonight. I agree with him more than not. Still overly dramatic and tripping on procedure a bit, but not as dumb-as-a-post as usual. Maybe it's just that I'm comparing him to Mar's level of buffoonery.

Chabot may be Rainman-esque, but he at least understands that if the tunnel doesn't get done now, it'll never get done.
Mar is probably trying to beat level 11 on Brickbreaker on his Blackberry now that "his work is done".

It's a rhetorical question to work up to her point, her final vote or amendment she will put forth.

Well, I HOPE she isn't so stupid that she doesn't know that projects are priced on conceptual drawings and that there are contingencies on all projects.

With most questions asked during City Council, the answer is already known by the person asking the question. Asking questions of administration, experts, etc. is just the procedural mechanism they have to use, and they ask certain questions in order to bring certain things to light so they can use that in an effort to frame and justify their positions.
