A close friend of mine has Shaw Direct (Starchoice) here in Calgary and has been getting the true US feeds all playoffs. It will be the same for the Superbowl.
I'm not sure how they get away without simsubbing when Bell has to...

Does Shaw Direct (Starchoice) carry CFCN-HD?
If they don't, then they don't have to simsub. But because both Bell and Shaw Cable carry CFCN-HD; they do have to simsub.

well tomorrow i plan on illegally streaming the superbowl over my PC, because CTV has driven me to do so. i can't stand to watch their same stupid commercials on every break for NFL games, it's quite ridiculous that the CRTC has completely removed the consumer's choice in what broadcast they'd prefer to watch

I have to work until what amounts to half time and plan on recording then watching, fast forwarding commercials until I hit live, obviously I have to do this because of work but I swear if I have to watch the CTV football promo commercial with the "football player" I will kill myself, so a PVR is a godsent. Like really, what genius thought a motorcycle helmet, hockey shoulder pads and a cup made a believable football commercial?

Yeah, it's not the same. Commercials slipped in during the game; watched in a large group in HD- everybody commenting on it.....
Oh, and a reminder to everybody- no matter how much you may disagree with CTV doing simsubs; currently that is the law and there will be no discussion about "how to" illegally stream the game.
Tell us you are doing it, fine. Discussing or PMing about it- no. Please don't make me hand out infractions for something I don't nessesarily disagree with. It sucks, but it's the law.

Not even close to being close enough. We are around 250 km from the border, and TV signals are maybe good for 100 km.
Back in the late 80's a Fox station in North Dakota put up their most powerful transmitter 5 km from the border; with the intention of hitting Winnipeg. (This was prior to Fox being available on cable.) You needed a really good antenna to get it in Winnipeg; and that was 100 km over flat terrain.

Not sure if mentioned but if your interested in the US commercials here they are a few minutes after they air.

Once again this year on Shaw Direct on the FoxHD feed was the actual Fox feed and not the CTV one, not a Telus or Bell commercial to be seen.
That said I was disapointed with the commercials this year, other than a couple of the Doritos commercials they were only okay.

At least CTV could have edited out the Black Eyed Peas half time show. Wow, what a terrible live band. They had to jam as much other things to look at into the show just to take your mind off the music.

Isn't that against the law?
Up until a year or two ago Bell let you watch the US feed. Only since the CTV-HD Calgary station has there been simsubbing.

Did you guys see that priceless Aaron Rodgers State Farm follow-up commercial with his nose tackle BJ Raji just now during the Bengals - Texans playoff game? Hopefully you did, and aren't being subjected to countless Tim Horton's / Canadian Tire commercials tonight!
