Default Last night's Survivor...dumbest move in the shows history?

For those that didn't see it a short synopsis..

Down to 5 contestants....they go to a challenge where the winner would receive a new car.

A young lady wins the contest and before she is then allowed to pick one of the others to drive in her new vehicle to a food fest in the jungle, she is given the opportunity to give up her win, and give ALL 4 of the others a new vehicle instead.

She doesn't think it through very well and says...nope, i earned this thing so im keeping it.

Predictably she was the one tossed out at shows end.

Now, im not blaming her for saying she won the thing....she did. But she didnt think it out very well. Not only did she pass up a once in a liftime opportunity to supply 4 other folks with a brand spankin new car, EVERYONE of those folks, except one, would of been on the jury to vote the winner should she of made it to the final 2. That's at least 3 sure votes she would of received towards winning a million bucks.

I hope she is enjoying that vehicle though...should be fun to hear her explain after this thing ends on Sunday night.

Personally, I would have given everyone else a car just to see them be happy. I guess I'm just a sap that way.

Strategy wise, I don't think she would have been voted off in this episode if she had given each of her competitors a car. . . . . even in a cuthroat game like this they probably would have forestalled her execution.

I like how Danni has turned a surefire defeat into at least a chance.

Pretty freakin' unbelievable Stephanie is still there.

Of course, none of this matters as the only thing we're all waiting for is the next big Susan moment in Survivor history, the Judd explosion during the questioning of the final two SCUMBAGS on Sunday night!!!

I don't watch survivor much, but is it possible she thought she had no chance of winning anyways, so she won a prize and just wanted to go home? Or are they just days away?

She sure seemed confident that she had a good chance to win it all as well when she took the car. It is interesting that she could think that.

When it comes down to it, she may have taken it just on the fact that she might not have thought she was actually able to win the million dollars. That's all I can think of but her actions sure didn't seem that way. She definitely would have improved her chances though giving them all cars.

3 days left.

She simply wouldnt of been voted out last night, so she would of been down to the final 4.

Add to that, she was still part of the biggest alliance, is neither the strongest nor the weakest player left, and there was every indication she could of been final 2.

It was just a dumb move....period.

I think you have to bear in mind her background and the fact she said on the show: "I never, ever thought in my lifetime I would ever own a brand new car."

That's powerful stuff in itself if that's the position you have in real life.

It may have been as simple as that.

If she does get to the end though I bet she's given some credit for picking the path that's harder while getting to the final two. Especially if anther tribe member getting there hasn't accomplished as much.

Bad move on her part. I'm certain any of the others -- had they won the whole thing instead of her -- would have bought her a car as a thank-you gift; and there was no better time in the game to have everyone else owe you a huge favour.

She'll have the rest of her life to ponder "what if..." as she drives around in her Torrent I guess.

I would have given them the cars too.

But then again, I honestly don't like cars that much. They're more of a burden than anything.

the question everyone's missing here is: what kind of car?

if it's a Found On Road Dead, or a Fix Or Repair Daily (hehehe) then give the others the NEW CAR and save yourself the headache, lol

if it's a new BMW... then tell the rest to go suck on a lemon you've got a new car,

Last night's Survivor...dumbest move in the shows history?

By the way, in answer to the opening question, was that the dumbest move in Survivor history?

No.

It may have been dumb or it may have been smart . . . . you could actually debate it endlessly.

What's dumb is seeing people in Survivor after Survivor abandoning rock solid alliances and embracing any paranoia that may be thrown in front of them, making decisions that you, sitting in the audience in the comfort of your living room, know to be hopelessly stupid.

And what makes it dumber is that you KNOW those people watched previous Survivors and saw it happen to other people, an endless lesson never learned.

Danni should be dead by now but she was able to stir the pot and crack people who should have rolled to the final.

I wasn't a fan of Danni's to start with for some reason (probably for calling out Gary who I was rooting for) but I'd be thrilled to see her win it all. She's played an excellent game the last six weeks or so.

i dont know if it was the dumbest ever, but it was certainly up there. I mean the producers of Survivor couldnt have scripted that episode any better. Jeff talks about the curse of the Car before Cinday makes her decision, Cindy takes it anyway, Cindy then gets voted off on the very same episode!!!!.....great episode last night, cant wait for Judd on Sunday....

Dumbest Survivor Moment-In the All Stars season, when Amber had to switch tribes and during an immunity challenge, when Boston Rob knew that Amber was gonna get kicked out, he whispers to Lex telling him to save her and he would be safe after the merge. Lex then follows suit, saves Amber and then of course, is the first one kicked out when the merge came. how he trusted Rob is beyond me.

Lowest Move in Survivor History: Gotta be the Johhny Fairplay "my grandma is dead" move.......very low, but the evil side of me is laughing

I'm shocked that that was teh first individual challenge tha Steph has won .

How many rewards has she been taken on? At least 4, maybe 5. Considering how prominant she has been in the show, she has been talked into voting off her alliance mates 3 times now. She'd better not win.

I hope Danni and Rafe make it to the final 2. If that happens I think Danni wins it.

And was it the worst move. I don't think so. It wasn't smart, but in the "what have you done for me lately" game of survivor, it probably would have saved her one tribal council.

ok so here is what I'm thinking...so she gives the cars and doesn't get voted out on this show. Fast forward to the next show, because this game is all about strategy if i'm one of the 4 left regardless if I got a car from her I'm thinking to myself ok so she gave four people here a car...three of which will be on the jury. She will most likely get their votes if she is in the finally 2 with me. I don't know about the other people but I don't want to take that chance so I'm going to vote her off before she even gets that chance.

So when it comes down to it the car was a sure thing...the million dollars was not, to me it was a no brainer

You probably have a winner with that one. Lexx went from hero to zero at the touch of a silvery tongue. Maybe the dumbest move of all time.

Not a dumb move at all IMO. An astute move actually to get something out of a game where you were most likely not going to get anything. The thing with Cindy was:

(1) no one was going to take her to the final 2 (or 3 for that matter) because she never ticked anyone off yet played a strong game and was respected by pretty much all of the players. Taking her with you is giving away the win.

(2) She was not in control of the game or controlling the alliance. She had to be questioning the alliance she had as they failed to inform here about voting Judd off. She expressed it right off the top of the show that following the trend she was going to be gone. She had good reasont to think that way.

(3) as much as Rafe wants to say "i would have given all of them a car" it's so much easier to say that than actually do it when in the position of getting a 20,000+ prize. Had she given people the car she would have had a couple of the remaining people questioning her thoughts that she was going to go all the way to the final 2 as she gave up a sure thing. More to the point her confidence about being able to do so brought forth all memories of how well she was doing in the challenges. She would have been seen as the same threat as she was for taking the car. Being a threat while not being in control of the alliance = bye bye.

The end result is if they are smart people should be taking Lydia with them to the final 2. No one respects her game play and no one particularily likes her either. She is viewed as riding on peoples coattails not playing an unassuming or strong game.

In the end because of here position in the game and being on the outside after the previous tribal council she absolutely made the correct choice.

The people who voted her off didn't make the proper choice. In all honesty they left the one person who has the best chance of winning both of the final two immunity challenges...Rafe. That is who should have been voted out. But Cindy made the right choice.

I watched the first season of survivor. By the end of it, I was locking the doors, pulling the blinds and unplugging the phone so I wouldn't be interrupted (no Tivo in those days). I went to a Survivor party for the Finale and got angry because people were talking during the show.

I realized I had a problem, and I swore never to watch another episode. But I read this thread, and now I am really REALLY wanting to watch it again...

Damn you. Damn all of you.

The tribe has spoken. It's time for me to go.

The real mistake that Cindy made was refusing to SHUT UP about the car. You had a chance to give everyone else a car but you didn't - that's fine. But don't blab on and on about how wonderful the car that they don't have because of you is!
