Default Cool story bro!

Have a story to tell with some substance to it, but it doesn't necessitate its own thread, or discussion? Well this is the place for you. Stories that start with sentences like ,"There was this time." or "I was at this place.", or "I saw this thing.."

So I will start:

Last night I completed a 25 year journey. When I was a kid, I saw this movie, and all I could remember was there was this guy, chasing a flying magic key, and that key smashed up a room, went up a chimney, shot lasers and fire at people and his face melted at the end. I also remembered that I loved it.

Well, years passed, and and I forgot about it. About a 15 years ago, I started having dreams about this movie, but I didn't understand them and I would awake up in the middle of the night from having one of these dreams, and try and google/search imdb for this movie, and figure out what it was to no avail. The search Flying / key / face / melt / chimney resulted in no hit of any substance. Seemed too bizarre to be real, how can a flying key do all this? Was this dream just a grand illusion, or a figment of my childhood imagination? I asked people, and no body seemed to remember any movie like this, but the dreams never stopped.

Well last night I had the dream again about this key, and in the dream I was wearing 3D glasses. I woke up at 4 in the morining, and recalled the dream, and it hit me. I added 3D to my search results, and up came an obscure 1983 movie called 'The treasure of the four crowns'. Then it all came back, it was a 3D movie played on 2&7 and you had to adjust the colors on your TV all wonky, and go buy a set of 3D galsses at Mac's or Mr. Soft Drink to watch it. I honestly felt a total moment of relief, accomplishment and peace once I figured out the name of this movie that has been haunting my mind for 25 years.

Here is a clip, and if this isn't the most gratuitous exploitation of 3D, I do not know what is, this is the Count Floyd level of 3D:

I actually had a very similar experience with having a tough time remembering a movie from my childhood.

It was Christian Bale's first ever movie, before Empire of the Sun.

After some googling and memories slowly coming back to me I figured out it is called Mio in the Land of Faraway and is based on a Swedish children's fantasy novel called Mio Min Mio (Mio my Son).

This one time me and my brother were eating sandwiches, and then my brother was like "Dude, I hate mustard" and then I was like "yeah".

Here's a good idea - have a point. It makes it so much more interesting for the listener.

No. Mio is a name. It is not a direct translation. The name in the brackets isn't the translation but the anglicized name of the novel.

The Swedish translation is Mio my Mio. No different than Jim my Jim.

But for the English novel they called it Mio My Son.

I remember this one time, my sister bought over her best friend and they were using the pool, so I decided to wrestle the anaconda. But my sisters best friend walked in on me in the bathroom because I forgot to lock the door.

I'm still pissed off that nobody thinks to knock before entering the bathroom.

LAst night my buddy came over. We were on my computer trying to get the sound recorder working and I tooted. It smelt like rotten eggs from the breakfast sammich I had that morning. So he went in the kitchen to avoid the smell. I followed him in and tooted again. Then he had no where to go. So being the gentleman I am, l went to my upstairs washroom and had a stool so as not to cause that horrible scent again.

I totally remember the movie and remeber 2&7 with their late night 3D movies. The good old days before infomercials. When TV stations used to play gore and adult geared movies at night!

Recently researchers noted that dreams may be the mind attempting to rid itself of useless memories, your mind apparently failed.

So the other night I went to see Sting playing with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. I was prepared for disappointment, as the only way I normally would want to listen to a cello is cranked through a Marshall stack. But it was damned fine, even rockin' at times. The guy is still a hell of a musician and singer, and with his singing style, I'm surprised that his vocal chords have weathered the years so well. The orchestra really stepped out of their norm and did a fantastic job.

I'm laughing way too hard at the starry bra picture. I could barely breathe for almost 3 minutes.

So, I was using CP's search function and noticed that the most often thread tag searched for is "sluts"

That is my entire story.
