It didn't work too well at the Nuremberg trials.

Agreed. I'm just saying the sick ####### who ordered it is just as culpable. To me, this isn't much different than the Mike Vick situation.

They're both culpable. I was surprised that the employee got compensated by workers comp for PSD.

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make here. You're comparing a city of over a million people putting down only 240 dogs in a year to a company that killed more animals than they have employees in less than a week?
I have a hard time beliving that this company tried very hard to find THEIR dogs homes before ordering someone to brutally murder them. I don't remember seeing a plee for these dogs to find homes, did I miss that story? I'm sure a company like that could spend a little money and time to have an adopt-a-thon or find another business similar to theirs who would take them. I don't care if they were working dogs or not, if they haven't hurt anyone and don't show signs of being an attack dog they should be able to find a home. The lady who trains my dog once spent her time and money to adopt two dogs thrown off a bridge in Oklahoma ( http://www.charlieandparker.com/) and plenty of others showed their support.

You mean to tell me that these dogs couldn't get the same support if you told the world that we need to find homes for them else a 100 dogs will die? This company should be ashamed of itself and anyone who played a role in this should go to jail. I'd rather see them back the truck up to the SPCA dump the dogs off and told them to deal with it. You know the SPCA would at least try to find them a home instead of a shotgun to the back of the head.
Can't believe anyone is defending their actions, this isn't 1910. I just hope your employer doesn't get slow one spring and take you out back.

If everyone who is outraged by this, would adopt a dog or cat, there wouldn't be a problem. Get it ? The least you could do is donate to the SPCA

I don't think anyone is defending what happened, show some empathy and understand nobody wanted this to turn out the way it did.

Even better would be to donate to the local no-kill shelters. Heaven Can Wait, Pound Rescue, Misty Creek, ARF, AARCS to name a few. These are all desperately under funded and always at bursting point.

It's the least I can do and I enjoy doing it thank you. I actually do donate to the SPCA and other local shelters around the city.
I actually adopted my cat from the Calgary SPCA, same with my girlfriend at the time and my roommate. Also not everyone has the ability to take in animals so that isn't the answer and I would say that if only 240 dogs were put down in a city of a million people those are pretty good odds that more people care than don't.
The problem is the company didn't show much effort in finding them homes. Maybe instead of spending the money on guns and ammo they could have spent it on a classified ad.

Is it a lot of paperwork to adopt girlfriends and roommates at the SPCA?

Paper work should be fine. It's the cost and recovery time of the spaying and neutering.

Okay you got me, I made it up!
Also Kybosh it's easier than a regular pet adoption but the girlfriend ends up costing more in the long run.

I know it's PETA, but I think this is a good point:

Sadly, this is not an isolated incident. Mushers routinely abandon, shoot, bludgeon, or drown dogs when they become ill, don't run fast enough, or are simply unwanted. In 2005, it was revealed that the largest dogsled tour operation in the U.S., Krabloonik Kennel in Aspen, Colorado, was shooting and killing as many as 35 dogs every year. A Krabloonik employee defended the killings, saying, "This is part of the circle of life for the dog-sled dog."

Kind of interesting how governments are cracking down on dogfighting but refuse to look into this culture.

OAW was aware of the relocation and euthanization of dogs at Howling Dog Tours Whistler Inc. in April 2010, but OAW expected this to be done in a proper, legal and humane manner. OAW learned otherwise for the first time on Friday, January 28 when OAW read the WCB ruling for the first time.

I'm calling BS! But interesting to know the guy who shot the dogs was a co-founder...?
