Free Misra compilation:

http://pitchfork.com/news/41279-misr...e-compilation/

Since 1999, the indie label Misra has released records by artists like Destroyer, Phosphorescent, Shearwater, and Centro-matic. The label is currently getting ready for a relaunch, with Southeast Engine drummer Leo DeLuca at the helm and distribution via Bloodshot. They're marking the occasion by releasing the free download compilation Misra Legacy Compilation, Volume 1. The comp features tracks from past Misra releases, as well as unreleased tracks from artists like Southeast Engine and the Black Swans, who will both release new albums on Misra this spring.

Foster the People will be playing at Coachella and just put out their first EP "Foster the People EP".

Pumped up Kicks (sleeper song of last summer)
Houdini (another great track)
Helena Beat (one of the best songs I have heard this year)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwCLVqSwo9M
Who cares if it borrows from MGMT & Empire of the Sun....song is great!

LA is putting out some great indie bands these days!

I'd say it's their weakest effort yet. It's way too polished.

Also I had a question, when do they usually anounce Virgin Festival for Calgary?

I see that they skipped Cowtown last year.. wondering if they will make up for it this year or not. Anyone heard anything?

I've tried to like it, but I hate Dan Bejar's singing. It puts me in a fit of rage.

Rock supergroup Van Halen is back in the studio with frontman David Lee Roth.

New tracks the Jump hitmakers are recording will be part of their first album with Lee Roth in 27 years.

The singer last appeared on Van Halen’s 1984.

The latest line-up is all about family - Le Roth joins Eddie and Alex Van Halen and Eddie’s son Wolfgang. Original bassist Michael Anthony is no longer with the band.

Hello again everyone, below is our first true attempt at self producing and recording every part of a song and the song is Dire Straits, "Six Blade Knife."

http://heavyjack.com/sixbladeknife.mp3

Right now we are in the works of setting up a studio that will allow us to record live off the floor but for this particular song we got the drum beds down first then overdubed / redubbed all the bass, guitar and vocal parts, much like how we recorded our first album.

New original tracks are in the works as well and we hope to have more material up for your listening pleasure in the near future!!!

For now though enjoy Six Blade and let us know what you think all!!

http://www.nme.com/news/u2/54775 U2 : May 27th. 35 years +

http://www.chartattack.com/news/2011...oncton-in-july Arcade Fire to open for U2 in Moncton. I heard somewhere that "Suburban War" was written about Bono? Does this make Arcade Fire a sell out or just guarantee a sell out for U2...

Win Butler "Although Bono often gets stick from musicians and fans he believes he is having a positive effect". "As much as people slag Bono I will forever give him credit".

You're not alone. They guy is an arrogant prick as well. He toured with the New Pornographers last time I went to see them and the rest of the band was clearly pissed with him. He was just drinking a huge glass of wine and would sulk onto the stage only when it was his turn to sing a song, then sulk off.

You can listen to the new Bright Eyes album on NPR's site: http://www.npr.org/2011/01/31/133278...t=1&f=98679384

My first impression is that it's a really good album.

What is it about his voice that bugs people? He sounds a lot like 70s David Bowie.

An arrogant prick rock star? What are the chances?

I don't care about his arrogance or anything like that. I just hate his voice. It is the voice of an English major who thinks they are smarter than everyone else who enjoys dressing up like Dante Alighieri in their free time.

I'm pretty sure peter12 isn't with the band anymore.

Cold War Kids just put out "Mine is yours" no need to purchase it as there is only a couple good songs.....1. Mine is yours and 2. Louder than ever. Not what I was expecting....A swing and a miss...
