Blackpool fined £25,000 in relation to team fielded at Villa. Will Ian Holloway now fulfil his threat to offer resignation if punished?

and...

Just a rumor

Internazionale will confirm Gareth Bale's growing reputation as the most sought-after player in world football with a £40m bid in the summer, the most that has ever been offered for a player of his age and experience.

I dont understand what the league gets out of fining managers for fielding 'weaker' squads. I mean, some clubs (like Blackpool) dont have tons of depth, and its not like they went out and got thrashed, they lost 3-2 against Aston Villa, a last minute goal no less.

Further, if they want to throw away points in the standings, thats their business.

He made 10 changes, so what, the team still went out and performed ok. What if they had won that game? Does the EPL go out and hand Holloway £25,000?

Ya it's dumb. They make them name a 25 man squad but don't allow them to use it

And only punish the weaker teams. There have been times when top sides made multiPle changes. I think arsenal made 8 after the win over Chelsea And no problems come up

It's a joke

While I don't agree with smaller, weaker clubs being the only ones to be fined, I sort of see what the FA is trying to do with it. If all of the bottom-half clubs mail it in against teams they don't think they can beat and load up against weaker clubs, it is sort of unfair as it essentially hands the big clubs easy victories and punishes the weaker clubs.

The FA is all about fair play and having Wolves field an under-strength squad at Old Trafford and then target the following match at Turf Moor is deemed to be unfair to Burnley. I think that they accept a certain amount of changes but 8, 9, 10 changes in matches you don't think you'll win is a bit much. Bit of a grey area this and no one is sure how the FA can come up with a suitable compromise.

I can understand that, but Holloway made changes against Aston Villa. They're tied with Blackpool right now, it was an effectively even match, as I understand it Holloway made the changes in part because they had just played and because they just played poorly so he was punishing that team selection.

Anyways, you cant say Holloway isnt a player, hes 'handing in his resignation' today, a resignation that Blackpool's Board of Directors have openly admitted that they will reject. He certainly is big on the melodramatic. He has been quite the character this season, I've been kind of quietly following Blackpool, I really like Holloway and Blackpool and hope they do well. They certainly got their licks in against Liverpool.

Keane to West Ham for £5 mil. I have no idea what West Ham's owners are doing.

Well as terrible as he is. He instantly becomes their best player

They are trying to buy their way out of relegation which I still think they are frontrunners to do. Now I just have more reason to cheer for them to go down

Da Silva to Real Zaragoza - fee undisclosed.

Magpies reject LFC's £30 bid for Andy Carroll.

Paul Konchesky to Notts Forest on a loan deal.

Liverpool have to be out of their minds to pay £35m for Andy Carroll.

Haha coming from the guy who's team sounds like its buying almost 60 million pounds worth of strikers because they suck.

Just to clarify I also hate Chelsea and hope they continue to suck.

Or terribly desperate rube.

Just heard that Newcastle have rejected the £35 million offer for Carroll.

Still no news on Torres other than there might be contractual problems with Chelsea that need to be sorted out.

Newcastle are out of their minds for saying no. I mean, £35M for Andy Carroll is insane, I dont know what Liverpool are doing, and if I were Newcastle I'd take the money and run.

I really hope Newcastle keep saying no because if they're going to splash some cash I'd rather it be on a world class player.

Well, when you need a striker you need a striker, and you need a good one and usually two.

And, as I post that, I see a rumour that Spurs are trying to hijack the Carroll bid.

Maybe Chelsea will just buy him too.

I cant believe it. £35M for Andy fataing Carroll. Ultimate proof that the English vastly overrate themselves.

And here I thought £20M+ for Darren Bent was ass rammingly insane.

I cant believe Newcastle. They just totally hit the jackpot. I'd maybe hold out for £40M because it seems like they could probably get away it with these crazy ass offers and then sell him and laugh all the way to the bank.

Rumours now that Carroll has handed in an official transfer request.

Probably a move by Ashley to posture to the fans and say "We declined the 35 million dollar offer but Andy handed in his request so we decided to let him go"

But at the same time Newcastle's fans are smarter then to fall for that.

And now LFC's website is confirming the bid has been accepted, crazy to spend that much money on Carroll.

Liverpool reporting on their website that the Carroll deal is done. £35M well wasted.
