Default Canucks Trolls

Just wanted to post a big thank you to the mods for taking out the trash with respect to a couple Canucks trolls today.

I didn't go near th PGT much because I knew I would lose it on those clowns and get banned or garner sever infractions. - I appreciate the mods stepping up and showing them that they're on a Flames board and they can be civil (like Blaster and Mad Mel) and stay, or be dorks and be banned.

Thanks again mods - I appreciate the (hopefully first of many) swatt removing Canuck trolls from our boards.

Also, as a side note, I wonder why we haven't seen many Oiler trolls? Must be the standings, I am sure (if?) when they return to form they'll be back.

That or the way he discovered the bold option when posting and uses it in every single fricking thing he replies to now, randomely sprinkled throughout the post, and sometimes with a smattering of size changes to the font.

Can we have seperate GDT's for Canuck games?

Like seriously how else are people supposed to reply to a post like this?

Pretty much seperate them like how a certain group was equal but had seperate water fountains.

Why can't we just ban the obvious ones? It's blatantly obvious which ones are here to contribute and which ones are only here to spout off about how awesome the Canucks are. Seriously, there isn't a single other fanbase that trolls this board like Canucks fans do. It's quite sad actually.

First I want to say that I've done my fair share of post reporting of Canucks trolls. That being said I 100% TOTALLY agree with both these posts. And I do think that both these posters are correct. I don't think their viewpoints are mutually exclusive.

I signed up here to talk hockey, but there's been so little actual discussion and so much childish playground fighting that so far it's been impossible.

Could be a fun forum to debate on if everyone showed some ID at the door.

-Yes. You are on a rivals site. You will be ribbed. While it should never be excessive it is a bit of home field advantage.

Now I'll be the first to admit that I have been involved too, but the way every word is so adamantly defended on here is the reason it keeps going.

Edit: I like having rival fans on the board, but don't expect fans here to share your point of views

Note: Upon further reading I just want to add one clarification. I only 99.9% agree with the first post. I don't see anything wrong with saying the Canucks are divers or making fun of the Sedin sisters or bashing 7uongo. But for me it is all about context. His general point I agree with. Trolling is trolling is trolling.

That being said, if the moderation team and the rest of CP says that when a Flames fan says it, it isn't trolling then I'm cool with that. I'm only posting these here as food for thought. I can't remember the last time I got into an argument with a Nucks fan and when some of the trolls post crap that bothers me I just report it.

By biggest pet peeve is the small group of posters that will drag an OOT on and on. The same few Flames/Canucks/Oilers posters will drag these things on in pissing matches for a full day. It drives me nuts. Yesterday was a bump on a two day old OOT.

Otherwise I think mods are pretty good to both sides.

Yeah, I mostly don't bother with OOT threads or anything else related to the Canucks anymore because of the Vancouver trolls and the people who get off baiting them. Outside perspective is awesome, but getting drowned in it in this fashion brings down the quality of the site. If I cared what a large group of Canuck fans thought about their team, I would go read a Canucks forum. I don't, so I don't and I shouldn't have to here.

They aren't here to contribute. They are just looking for validation, and it is a pathetic manifestation of Vancouver's inferiority complex.

None of this is directed at you Cecil; but you bring up some examples of what happens. For example, and exchange like this between a Flames Fan and Canucks Fan:

FF- I wish they would stop chanting "Louuuuu" every time 7uongo touches the puck.
CK- At least we don't boo our goalie like you guys did with Kiprusoft in the Wild game
FF- Well Kipper doesn't lose key games like that 7 goal game where 7uongo got you guys eliminated.
CK- Well at least we've seen the 2nd round more than once in the last decade.
FF- TROLL!

The problem there is the Flames Fan did bait the Canucks fan; who is now responding. If you leave your bacon and honey on the picnic table when camping, don't be surprised when bears show up.

Yes, this is a Flames forum first, but when an exchange like this is reported it's pretty tough for us mods to act because both parties participated.

The only two things you should do about any troll (not just Canucks Trolls) is to report the post; and/or ignore it. Why- because the troll is there to get a reaction from you- any reaction. Calling them a troll, telling them you are ignoring them, any of that will just feed their need for negative attention.

Even if somebody calls you out; let's say like in a multi quoted post like I did to poor Cecil above- the best thing you can do is show them you have read it by thanking or quoting a nearby "friendly post", and then continuing to ignore the troll. The troll will either do something to get themselves banned (meltdown); or leave because nobody is playing their game.

That's why it would be great to have a seperate thread for Canuck games since the Canucks probably have the second most fans on this site it would make sense to create a GDT for their games so anyone that wants to contribute to the OOT can just skip their posts if they choose.

I know it makes sense to just ignore their posts, but it's pretty hard when the majority of the posts are about the Canucks.

No thanks. If they want their own threads they can go to one of their own sites. There are too many of them as is. Don't need anything else to attract more of them.

Precisely. If they want their own game thread, they can go back where they came from.

Wasn't it Blaster who said they go back to their sites and rally the troops to come over here whenever the Canucks are getting bashed? Inferiority complex, thy name is Vancouver!
