Was really hoping Andrew Garfield would got a nod for best supporting in the Social Network.
I'd love to see best actor either go to Franco or Eisenberg

That was an unbelievably tough year, Forrest Gump and Pulp Fiction were pretty damn good movies as well.

Did it deserve to win over Forrest Gump? Tough call.

It was nominated for seven, four of those went to Forrest Gump.
Tough year.

Didn't we just have a celebrity dick waving contest like a week ago? The entertainment industry is so full of themselves.

I would be happy with either Eisenberg or Franco to win best Actor but i know the academy always has a hard on for performances like Colin Firth's in Kings speech...
IMO Franco should win, he did such an awesome job in 127 hours and considering the film is 80% JUST HIM and yet still VERY VERY engaging shows how good of an actor he was... True shame that the academy is so predictable.

I'm going to try to "go to the theater" and see all three before Oscar night as I like to see all the films prior.
Thanks BigBrodieFan for the quick mention of Winter's Bone, I hadn't heard much about it prior so I'm definitely going to check it out.

I've only seen Black Swan, Inception and The Social Network. I've got some catching up to do.
Glad to see Jesse Eisenberg got nominated. He was fantastic.

How about any one associated with a Spike Lee film has never won an Oscar for one of his movies? Do the Right Thing and Malcolm X were shut out. How many people honestly believe Driving Miss Daisy was better than Do the Right Thing?

I actually thought that other than Eisenberg the best performance in TSN was the guy who played the Winklevii twins.

Spike Lee is the biggest ###### in hollywood. I hate that man with a passion.
I honestly think he might be one of the biggest racists in hollywood too. No joke.

Best picture is tough this year. A bunch of great films, but none of them were exceptional. I'd probably give it to the Social Network. Part of me wants to give it to Black Swan, even though I didn't enjoy it. It was probably the best "film."
The King's Speech wasn't all that great of a movie. Great acting certainly, but not a best picture worthy script or direction. Toy Story 3 also doesn't deserve consideration for Best Picture.
I'd probably give Best Actor to Colin Firth, although I haven't seen Franco in 127 hours.

The Kings Speech should be winning this whole thing. Black Swan probably comes close; the rest are a lost cause.
Also, was Reznor's music in The Social Network original? It sure sounded like they just took music from his Ghosts album.

Well you would be wrong I have had a couple conversations with the man and seen him speak a couple times. The man is far from racist. What's the reasoning you have behind thinking he is a racist? Is it all the black people he cast in 25th hour?

I just saw True Grit on the weekend and although I haven't seen any of the other performances in the category, Steinfeld gave a great performance. It's hard to believe she's actually only 14.
It was probably smart for them to push for her in the Supporting category, even though she's in virtually every scene in the movie, since Portman is likely to win Lead Actress.

My personal choice for Best Picture would be King's Speech. What a well done film with very strong performances from all involved. Granted I've only seen about half of those nominated for Best Picture.

My post is a little misleading. I don't mind a couple of his flicks. And part of my dislike comes from him being a total idiot when he attends sporting events. Guy thinks he's an assistant coach for the Knicks.
The racist thing I'm honestly just playing a hunch based on his portrayals of white/black relationships in film. I don't want to hijack this thread so let's just say I certainly wouldn't accuse him of it in person. I just think his movies usually have a common theme. Pretty much all the white peolple are villains.

How is the King's Speech good enough for Best Picture with such a cookie cutter script? It was a fluff piece.
