i dont know if you got your answer yet from this thread but he WILL get taken to jail/the bank upon landing in Canada.
it happens lots, it happened to a guy traveling with my brother to and from mexico. he landed and was escorted to the bank by 2 cops. then to the station, then left on his own to get home.

If your friend has possible outstanding warrants, and he still decided to book a trip where he might possible be detained, he is an idiot. Plain and simple. He should pay off his outstanding ticket ASAP and carry around that receipt with him in case he gets arrested/stopped for the next little bit.
