If you're interested in knowing more about Milos, here's a transcript of a great presser with him: http://tennisconnected.com/home/2011...ss-conference/
I figured this would come somewhere....
Q. The last best Canadian player ended up playing for Great Britain. I take it you will play for Canada.
MILOS RAONIC: Yes.
Frankly, the last "best Canadian player" will and always will be Nestor, but whatever

Raonic has missed capitalizing on a couple of break points and then gets broken himself. A bit of inexperience there, but what can you do.

That missed volley in the 7th game to make it 0-40 really hurt.

Well that's it. Wheels have fallen off.
Ferrer's experience and defense won the day.

I started keeping track since you posted this....21 mentions of "young Canadian" with just 3 "Milos" and/or "Raonic".

Ah what can I say, Raonic did well. He made it a match and he should be very proud of himself. His achievements at the Aussie Open will pay off because I believe he'll move into the top 100, so hopefully, no more challengers for him Great job, Milos!

A lot of celebration from the haircut needing Spainard for beating a guy that's 150th in the world.
A few mental mistakes at crucial times in the 3rd and 4th sets turned out to be the issue for Raoinic.
Great tournament, hope that Raonic can keep it up.

He's got all the physical tools to be the best Canadian men's tennis player ever he just needs more polish. Who's the last Canadian men's player in the top 50? Glenn Mitchibata?

Wow! That's a name in the past and he got to 48th.
Although on last night's broadcast they said that 'officially' in 1994 Rusedski was ranked 41 while still Canadian.

How can I plan to watch a match? I record both 6hr time slots but never get to see the match I want!!! You would think you would get to see more than highlights from the #1 ranked women in the tourney.

It's pretty hard in the earlier rounds because of the sheer number of players. ESPN generally only has the well-known players on tv broadcasts, with many of the other matches streaming live on their websites. TSN takes ESPN's feed and that's why we didn't get to see all of Raonic's match on tv last night. TSN streams all of the courts on their website and the streams don't use the ESPN broadcast. They instead use local Aussie broadcasters or other international broadcasts, depending on the tournament. I'd say that's your best bet to see your favorite player, but I know that's not an option for some folks because they are using their PVRs.
TSN only covers the Rogers Cup, where the Canadian players all get a chance to have at least one match aired.
Because we have now reached the quarterfinals, you'll probably be able to see every match on TSN (ESPN's broadcast).

Boy would it ever suck to be on the mens side right now. Nadal is just smoking everyone. It seems like he doesn't even try and he wins. He is way too good. I want someone new to win for once. Go Andy Murray!

I don't like Murray. He throws tantrums and pouts like Roddick when things aren't going his way. If you are going to pull that crap in a gentleman's sport like tennis at least be over the top like Johhny Mac so we can be entertained by the sideshow.

To be fair, I only watch majors and that is only the SF and Final so I haven't watched Murray enough. I can't stand Dorkovic at all and other then Federer and Nadal, he is the only other one besides the 3 that I mentioned, that have a shot.

They ran a stat the other day.
Federer or Nadal have won 21 of the last 23 Grand Slams.
Federer 12 and Nadal 9. That's dominance.
The only other 2 are
Djokovic 2008 Australian Open
Del Potro 2009 US Open

I wouldn't mind a new champ too. A couple of years back, Tsonga and Djokovic played an epic Aussie final and that's what I love. I don't mean to slight Nadal or Federer. They are amazing world-class athletes and I appreciate their extensive resumes, but I'd just like a change.
It was awesome to see Del Potro win the US Open in '09 and I might not like him, but when Roddick just about took Wimbledon.
For the women, I bias and want Clijsters to win everything under the sun because I adore her attitude. She never gives up on any ball, even if she knows she's not going to win the point. Next to that, she is a true sportsman and person. There's definitely a girl crush there on my part.

yeah Nadal and Federer are just way above everyone.
Example: Wavrinka looked like a world beater beating Monfils and Roddick in straight sets and now he's just being manhandled by Federer!
