Default Warrent for arrest - Going to Mexico

Just booked my trip to Mexico with a few friends, we've got another buddy who is on the fence about coming, due to having some traffic tickets and c-train tickets that are unpaid.

Can he travel out of the country? I'm pretty sure there's a warrant for arrest if these things are left unpaid.. Seems you couldnt get threw customs?

Not really sure. He has no car anymore so he's not really worried about getting pulled over by the cops.. Just trying to pad your post count? Pretty useless post you made there pal

Just how many traffic tickets and c-train tickets does your "buddy" have? Maybe paying off outstanding debts should take priority over travel?

I can't imagine that there would be any problems at the border, unless the tickets were old enough that the arrest warrant was already issued.

A few train tickets an a few traffic. From what I've heard they turn into a warrant once you don't pay them on time.

Have a friend that had an outstanding ticket that he thought he paid, but didn't get processed properly. Turns out a warrant was issued for his arrest, but he didn't know it. He made it to Mexico no problem but was arrested at Canada Customs on his way back in. My guess is your friend will have the same problem. Agree with the previous poster that paying the tickets would be wise before travelling.

The C-Train ticket is the only one the warrant is for.

Traffic tickets don't turn into warrants? I'm assuming they only become an issue while trying to re-new insurance then?

trying to pad my post count?? huh? people do that?

anyways, i was in the middle of writing a second response more pertinent to the OP. I agree that cheeky responses are often annoying, but I was simply stating the obvious, most reasonable solution

If customs does become aware of the arrest warrant, they will turn over your friend to the authorities... however, customs officials are often not as organized as people think... and he would likely only face any issues coming back into the country, no?

Depending on what the tickets were for. The majority of traffic tickets are "yellow" tickets, which mean that they'll just goto fines collections. If he got "pink" tickets (which what a lot of bylaw tickets/LRT tickets/serious traffic offences are), than those would goto warrant.

I asked a fairly simple question I thought.. Why bother replying "Pay tickets first before trip!!" I didn't ask for life lessons thanks though

Pay the tickets man. Not difficult.

Don't pay the tickets and chance it. Worst case Ontario you have to bribe some Federales to get past the border. Good to go.

i hate to pad my post count, but if he has enough tickets to be worried about a warrant, he needs to be paying these off instead of a trip to mexico. take my post as a life lesson.

This may go down as one of my favourite CP threads ever, the thread itself is hilarious and the fact that your asking this question after you've booked the tickets. Then when other posters politely recommend the logical answer (That's great he doesn't drive now..eventually he will I'd imagine and at one or another time in his life leave the country or run into the police again) you accuse them of trying to pad their post counts?!?
