What I wonder is if these stalls are designed only for people with physical handicaps??

I was once taking a deuce in a handicap stall and a ret... err, mentally handicapped guy started pounding on the stall door yelling 'YOU'RE NOT SPECIAL"!!!!

Wow, thanks everyone, that has to be the best humour I've seen.

Personally, I think Handi-Stalls are building code. I think everyone at work would likely know for certain if you got someone Handicapped who would require quick access. I've not worked in such an evironment where this has been the case but I'd think you would know. With that being said yeah for all the reasons mentioned above I actually choose the Handi-Stall over the skinny minny stall. I guess I think there is less of chance for someone to ask me "Could you spare a square I'm out over here" with there hand reaching under. I think that extra cushion of space kind of relaxes you and allows you to get the job done right.

However, I've also found there are way less jokes inscribed on the door for reading so that's kind of a downer.

Hang on now.. Since when was a handicap stall taboo to non handicapped folks? Handicapped BATHROOMS on the other hand, yes.. but not just the stall.

Eff that. The handi-bathroom is AWESOME. Your own sink and paper towel dispenser? No other stalls?

If god had to #### somewhere, he would #### in a handi-bathroom.

I know when I go to a restroom where there is a line-up and I am in my wheelchair, it's like parting a sea. Most people are very accomodating. That's one of the reasons I use my chair at concerts, Flames games, etc.

When someone comes out of an accessable stall with me waiting in my chair, they seem very embarrassed. I don't care.

I've never seen anyone who actually 'needs' a handi-stall near one. I consider them to be like any other stall.

It would have to be an emergency of some kind of proportion if I was to put my bare ass on anything in a stadium bathroom.

Why should handi bathrooms be any different? If only handi's used them, 99% of the time it would sit there idle going to waste.

It's not like a handi parking spot where you could tie it up all day. At most the handi might have to wait like 5-10 minutes, then the handi would get priority over the non-handi's waiting. Handi Handi Handi.

Not to be heartless, but if they're that spastic/incontinent they should be wearing diapers or a catheter.

That, considering the two posters' names was slightly disturbing.

I could really go for one of these at my work. Not sure why we don't have one to begin with. But the existing stalls are just too small. I have to position my feet to one side of the bowl and lean over top of it just to get the door open so I can get out No human can actually stand up after a session and open the door. Acrobatics are involved.

I thought you hid it because it was an in-thread fata; which is a rare sight on a 3 page thread.

In a parking lot at a mall you might have 10 handicapped parking spots for 1000 parking spots. In the bathroom in the mall you might have 1 handicapped stall for 5 or 6 regular stalls. Therefore it is clearly not designed for exclusive use. The ratio gets even worse in a restaurant when there are only 2 stalls. To reserve 50% of the pooping capacity of a bathroom for handicapped people doesn't make sense. They don't represent that much of the population.

The time thing is really what it comes down to. Worst case the person has to wait 15 minutes to use the bathroom.

I have a question for anyone who is handicapped. Do you ever use the handicap urinals? I have never figured out how one would use them.

Lock the KAFO (Knee Ankle Foot Orthotic) in place, grab the hand rail, stand, unzip, unleash, evacuate...shake, restrain, zip up, sit, reflect on the accomplishment while washing my hands, proceed about my day.
