I just graduated in June from MRC and I took the Bachelor of Arts program, but I majored in English. I ended up having a really good experience. Its a fairly new program and they are still working out some of the problems with it, so sometimes it requires a bit of patience. Personally I don't think I would have enjoyed the experience as much if I had gone to the UofC. I just liked the smaller classes and atmosphere at MRC better than the UofC.

I took a History degree at the University. My only advice would be; have a plan. Don't just take the degree because you like or you're interested in History. Know exactly how a BA History will get you where you want to be. If you don't know where you want to be... be careful about committing 1000's of bucks and years of your life to a hazy future/goal.
That said, I think a History degree is one of the best degrees you can get. It taught me that, until you know what happened then, you have no idea what's happening now. My own little quote

I can't say enough about the college, I've loved my experience there, and I am graduating in the spring with one of the applied bachelor's degree in business. I've like the instructors for the most part, the course work has been challenging enough for me, and even though the U of C won't recognize my undergrad when i go for my MBA, no worries as the decent business Universities in this country do.
I have a roomie and it's been good, I don't think I'd like rez much as i've gone to some parties there, they are nice but yah, it can be a crapshoot from what I heard, but I guess so are roomies...

Some survey had UofC at #25 for MBA programs. York, Ivey, and McGill were rated higher but who gives a **** anyway.

No no. Those are the great universities. Besides another survey had UofCs Executive MBA rated 2nd in the world.

Most people would advise against doing your undergrad and then doing your MBA right away. Unless you have a lot of work experience previously, but more and more people are recognizing how vital work experience is over theory learned in school.
Befor MBA's became more common than candy, most had a work experience requirement to them.

I would also advise against jumping right into an MBA. Take some time off, clear your head, get some work experience, and then come back to it. I think you'll benefit far more from that than saying to yourself "well I came this far, why stop now?"

...just to sort-of add, while taking some time away from school you can land with a wicked company to work for, and they might just pay your way through your MBA. just a thought.

as someone living in mount royals rez right now I can tell you it will either be one of the best experiences of your life or will completely hate it. I have been in rez for a 1.5 years now and I had the time of my life. That being said I am also moving out pretty much right away because I have just gotten sick of it. The main problem with it is first of all your room-mates are a crap shoot, personally I have been very lucky and liked all of mine, and am now moving out with one of them. Secondly it is almost like a soap opera at times in there, with one person sleeping with another, and then someone else hates someone else, basically it never ends. The final thing that I will say is that about 90% of the people are under 20. Personally I am 22 and just sick and tired of putting up with people who are now able to drink for the first time(most people are from BC so this is literally the first time they can drink) To sum this up I have made some of my best friends to date in rez and I would never want to give up the past 1.5 years for anything, but defiantly think long and hard about it. I would say go for it if you are 20 or under and if you have an out-going personality as it will be one of the best experiences of your life. If not look into the surrounding area, the place I am now getting is a total of $900 a month including everything(cable, internet, heat...) and that will be split between my friend and I so I only pay $450 a month now.
