Default Human Corrections must pay cop killer $9500

LINK

So now this "wonderful person" is $9,500 richer, for his extreme pain and suffering at the hands of a cruel world according to the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal....aka...Fascist garbage.

It was on an October day in 1983 when 38-year-old father of two, Const. David Utman, was having coffee at a restaurant and happened to encounter an escaped inmate from the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre.
Aiming a handgun at Utman, the escaped inmate ordered the officer to stand up. He then shot him in the chest, killing him. The convict was recaptured and found guilty of murder and sentenced to life in prison.

27 years later, this abused person who forced a police officer to rise from a sitting position so he could shoot him in the chest, is awarded $9,500 by a kangaroo court of law for making him stand to ensure he hadn’t escaped. The irony is painful.

This is a first world country where we maintain rights for all. Or we could be like the States currently torturing one of their citizens for a crime he hasn't been convicted of.

Human Corrections? Is it any way related to the Human Fund?

He'll end up paying protection fees to other inmates now that this award has become public.

And he'll pay up, or he'll have more then a sore back.

Giving rights to prisoners actually sounds like the complete opposite to something facists would do.

Just because he killed a police officer does not give the jails a right to treat him like garbage.

He still has rights and he was in obvious pain from standing and they didn't take into account his disability and he deserves to be compensated.

I don't even know how what he was convicted for relates to him suing at all. I guess it will sell more papers, but what he was convicted of makes no difference.

It's pretty bad that correctional officers would lobby a doctor to change her medical opinion; that right there would have tied the tribunal's hands and ensured that this guy would get compensation.

Whats he going to do with $9,500? Hes in jail.

This is stupid, he should be compensated with something like a nicer bed for a year or something.

Since he has income, they should bill him for room and board.

It's pretty simple. You can't bind people to laws in a society if they are not protected by those same laws. Pretty much the exact opposite of facism, but don't let logic stand in the way of your absurd hyperbole.

I remember when that happened. Bayshore's in a dump of a neighbourhood. The cop that was killed wasn't the last cop shot there.

I am going to ignore you little insult and reply like an adult.

CHRC is not a true court of law. They are a kangaroo court. They are not bound by the checks and balances that a REAL court of law would be under. They DO NOT go by the rule "Innocent until found guilt". There is no burden of proof with this kangaroo court. The accused is GUILTY...they just find out how much. 100% conviction rate!!

There are laws in this land that can deal with abuse of power and such. There is legal recourse for this. Obviously, his case was so nonexistent that he took it to the CHRC.

Cause when you take a human life, end up incarcerated, and are forced to follow rules, life isn't all about what you can/want to do.

And how did you get that out of my post?

Maybe you replied to the wrong post because that had nothing to do with what was said in my post.
