People always ask me, "troutman, what does it mean":

Older Norman Maclean: [narrating] Like many fly fishermen in western Montana where the summer days are almost Arctic in length, I often do not start fishing until the cool of the evening. Then in the Arctic half-light of the canyon, all existence fades to a being with my soul and memories and the sounds of the Big Blackfoot River and a four-count rhythm and the hope that a fish will rise. Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of those rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters.

A River Runs Through It

I had an unhealthy obsession with Jeff Shantz for a while.
The year before I got my season tickets I went to 2 Flames games and Jeff Shantz scored in both of those games (incidently they were the only two goals he scored all year). So the next year when I got season tickets, the first exibition game that Jeff Shantz played in he scored a goal, but was promply traded (in the trade for Drury). Anywho, I was convinced that since Jeff Shantz had only scored goals at the games I was at (At all of the games I was at) that he wouldh have had a 41 goal season if he had not been traded.

Oh well, live and learn.

I've used Reaper or some variation as my online handle for around 6 years. I picked it because watching the Grim Reaper play board games in Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey always made me laugh. Now I use it because I am the taker of souls...muuuhahahahahahaha

This fabric cube in my prison ... CP is like the window that I can stare out of. Through the window, I can see the world pass me by, but I can never actually pass through to escape the prison.

I like looking at the bright side of life! :P

i used to post to the BBSs on my C-64 under a different name each time i dialed in. ahh...kermit. anyone remember that prog?

anyhoo. everyone got PO'd at me for using a different handle, so one dood actually called me at home and said "man, pick a name and stick with it or you're not welcome on my BBS anymore". i picked 'Chip', but found it another regular was using it. i went to 'Chip1', took a lot of flack for it, but stuck with it.

that was almost 21 years ago now.

later, i signed onto a board where the min length for a name was 6 characters, so i switched the '1' to a 'One' and have stuck with that since...i think that was probably 92 or 93 i did that.

everyone calls me Chip though, in my programming/gaming circles. people seem to naturally drop the 'One' and just call me Chip, which is what i wanted in the first place...21 years ago.

kermitology - the study of all things Kermit the Frog

Seriously though.. When I was in highschool I used to have something green on every single day, so my friends started calling me kermit all the time. I joined like yahoo or something and had to come up with a screen name, so I chose something to do with kermit. kermitology was what I chose simply because it was something about kermit that was not a word and something that pretty much no one else would think of. Since that time whenever I joined something that required a screen name, it was just kermitology. It was also a very suitable name when I was an usher, since we wore green blazers. When I became a head usher and dawned the blue blazer, I thought of changing my name to something associated with grover, but thought better of it later.

There.. that's the story of kermitology, and remember, it's not capitalized.
