According to CNNSI.com, Andrew Luck is staying at Stanford another year rather than entering the draft.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...l?eref=BrkNews
Good to see, but with the CBA being renegotiated and rookie salaries a top target of the owners, he could be leaving a ton of money on the table.

I don't think he would, the owners want a rookie salary cap instituted for this draft class. The NFL year ends immediately after the draft, and I can't see many teams looking to give a huge rookie contract when they could just wait for a cap to save them tons of money.

Whether the owners get that cap remains to be seen, but I can see the NFLPA willing to allow a rookie cap as long as they see that money going to veteran player contracts. There always was some grousing by NFL players about the amount of money 1st rounders would get without ever having played a snap.

Luck definitely doesn't want to go to Carolina but he could easily hold out and tell them he's not playing there.

UT is going to announce Manny Diaz the Miss St. DC as their new DC, and apparently have targeted Boise St. OC as their new OC.

Fun fact: LSU plays their last game of this year tonight in Cowboys Stadium (Cotton Bowl vs. Texas A&M), and their first game of next year, as well (Sept. 3 vs. Oregon).
They've recruited Texas well for years, hopefully this exposure will keep it going...

ESPN saying that Michigan is meeting with Les Myles and that Stanford has asked Boise St. for permission to talk to Chris Peterson.

That's pretty ambitious of Stanford. They may be in a better conference, but with the high academic standards at Stanford I'd say that Boise St. can recruit the better pure football players and athletes. The only way Peterson leave Boise is if a Ohio St, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, etc. comes along.

Stanford can double his salary. Plus he might decide he no longer wants to live in the most racist state in the country.

He lives in Boise not the Northern part where the racists are and it doesn't seem to hurt his ability to recruit black players so what does he care about some BS title of "most racist state in the country"?
I think he will look at what happened to Hawkins in going to a second rate program and realize that unless he is going to a place he can win there isn't much reason to rush off to the first big offer double the salary or not.

How much time have you spent in Boise? I've had quite a few racist encounters in that city.

Can Stanford though? I'm not too up to date on coaching salaries, but I don't see Stanford being near the top of the AQ schools in coaches salary. But even if you're right, then there's got to be probably 40+ teams that could afford to double his salary and Stanford is not anywhere near the top tier of those teams.

Peterson earned 1.5M this past season...Stanford can quite easily top that I would think.
Harbaughs salary was likely not at that level as he was a 1st timer as HC at that level.
At any rate, I dont think that money is the only factor whether he stays or goes. He can get a much wider variety of players at BS based soley on academic requirements. However, the lure os Andrew Luck as your QB has to be attractive, even if for only one season.

Peterson still has Kellen Moore for another season though. While he may not be anywhere near the caliber of pro prospect Luck is, as a college QB he's every bit as good if not better.
