Loose Leaf Tea fans
So who are the other tea drinkers around here?
What's currently steeping, what are your favorites and where do you go (in person/online/w.e.) to get your tea on?
Right now I'm loving the Electric Lemon from David's Tea in Southcentre. Stuff has a zing like you wouldn't believe. Great over ice (which is how I drink tea 60% of the time, even in winter).
I generally stick with green/white/oolong with the odd rooibos or mate for a change. I can't drink black tea much, if at all.
Hmm, should I have made thread "no homo?"

I just go to "Steeps." Normally a rooibos fan, myself.

I've been drinking Dragon Well from Steeps. I also like Gyokuro but it can be expensive.

I love this place. Pretty much within walking distance when it's semi-decent out. They have a white tea grape that is the best thing iced on a warm day.

The owner is a friend of mine - he is hilarious and knows his tea.

I am drinking a macha latte from Steeps right now, it's brilliant. Convenient to work right next door to them.

Naked Leaf is great too -- they have this blend called "Too Good to Name." It's off the hook with a little milk and sugar. Highly recommended.

I'm pretty much caffeine free these days. Yerba Mate is my primary drink.

My favourite tea shop is Naked Leaf, and my second favourite is Tea Trader.
I generally prefer black teas. Right now, I have a pitcher of room temperature Famous Five tea from Tea Trader that is sitting in the kitchen that I poured over ice for lunch today & will finish tomorrow. It is a blend of five black teas.
If I am drinking whites or greens I tend to like them flavoured with fruit, especially citrus. Actually, I like black teas with citrus too. Many of the greens that I buy are citrus flavoured senchas.

I used to drink sooo much yerba mate, great hangover drink.
The only tea I drink nowadays is peppermint. I have some from Guy's Bakery in Cochrane that is alright. I have got it from the place in Eau Claire and it was pretty good a couple years ago.

I find teavana to be hideously overpriced, but I am happy that I can get a good cup of tea to go at malls now.
My hands down favourite loose leaf tea is Russian Earl Grey from The Metropolitan Tea Company. It's a bit of a citrusy twist on Earl Grey. The tea/coffee shop in Eau Claire sells Metropolitan teas, but I don't know if they carry this one - I get it by the 1 kg package at Glenn's in Red Deer.
MRC - I've had the grape flavoured white tea from Naked Leaf - it is very good.

You're thinking of Teaopia, which is in the malls in Calgary. Teavana is the tea chain in the US.

Good topic - does anyone know a place in Airdrie? I prefer loose leaf tea, but don't want to always drive into the city to get it!

I know this thread will be Calgary-centric, but for any west coast posters, I highly recommend Shaktea.
This place is AWESOME.
If you're a tea fan and don't particularly dig on green teas, I highly recommend the 'Kyoto Lemon' they carry. Fantastic.
