I personally feel the Vikings should have made the descision to move on from Farve once McNabb became available. Farve at best was an option for one more year whereas McNabb should have 3 more past this one. McNabb would have adjusted much better to the Vikings offence than he did in Washington, and the team would have been able to start moving forward the day they got him. Instead they held out for a one year prayer, and Farve was too beat up to be effective this year.

I would think they are looking at next year, evaluating the roster, etc. So starting Joe Webb, while disastrous from a "outcome of the game" perspective, would have been a good way to evaluate the roster and what kind of young players you want to keep around.

If they are projectinf Webb as a QB down the road, i would agree. They aren't. They had him learning the wide out position. he was no more than a token 3rd QB on the roster from everything i read and was never drafted to play that position, but ended up being the defacto guy after Jackson and Favre went down.

And yes the Vikes should have tried to win a meaningless game..afterall that stadium was full of people who paid to see them, shovelled the stadium out from 45,000 cubic tons of snow and braved some pretty nasty elements to do so and sit through the game.

They had him at WR at the start of the 1st mini-camp. Then he was put back at QB and was there all summer.

From an Aug 25 article:
Quote:
That happened for exactly one rookie minicamp. It was at that point the Vikings gave Webb an audition as a quarterback, liked what they saw and decided they would rather have him throwing passes than catching them.

He has remained at quarterback, despite the fact many fans now seem to think the Vikings should give him a chance at receiver after Sidney Rice underwent hip surgery that could sideline for at least half the season and Percy Harvin again has been dealing with migraines.

Vikings coach Brad Childress, however, said that option has been talked about and dismissed.

Hmmm...interesting. I read just last week or so on the NFL North blog that he had been working with Rice since his return on routes...maybe i misunderstood and he was working with him as the QB.

Either way...i dont know enough about Webb beyond what we saw the other night to have an opinion as to his QB ability...but he sure looked completely out of his league as many rookies do.

Some BIG not news. Rex Ryan and his wife are foot fetishists. I like how one reporter asked if his job was in jeopardy. I would stop being a Jets fan if they fired him for such a stupid reason.

I wanted McNabb last year and I'd still want him this year. Thankfully, he can be had at a far cheaper price this year.

But I'd really like it if McNabb was used as a stop gap for this team to actually GROOM A QB!

It's unfortunate that he probably won't come to the Vikings due to the big gaping hole at Head Coach.

Well Mike Shanahan continues to be absolutely brilliant with the Red Skins, You can be my Backup QB if you want is what he says to McNabb. This has to have GM Bruce Allen wanting to go somewhere else.

ew Cowboys.

Cardinals up 14-0 early. Two pick 6s. The Cardinal offense haven't seen the field yet.

Hilarious end to the Cowboys/Cards game. As soon as Beuhler missed the PAT you KNEW that the Cards were going to win on a field goal.

A blizzard is expected to dump up to 20 inches of snow in Philadelphia, where the Vikings are scheduled to play the Eagles on Sunday night, and NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the league is discussing whether or not the game should be played. Aiello also said the league hasn't made any decision.

According to Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia, a winter storm warning is in effect until 1 p.m. ET Monday. A state of emergency will go into effect Sunday in Philadelphia at 3 p.m. ET, about five hours before the scheduled kickoff.

Good start for the Chiefs today, up 24-0 midway through the 2nd quarter. Matt Cassel looking good so far having had an extra week for his appendix to recover, 3TD's and over 200 yards in the first half. Dwayne Bowe owners are happy.

So much for the vaunted defenses of the Jets and the Bears...they are carving one another apart and are at 38-31 with 1 1/2 quarters to play. Strange.

Chiefs look like they are on a mission...good for them. Jags playing for their playoff lives and have 7 points in 37 minutes. Shows just how good and how important MJD is to them.
