Default Christmas present that is making me sick.

My 8 year old asked Santa for a Phaneuf Toronto jersey this year and low and behold Santa delivered. Reid has been a Phaneuf fan since he started watching hockey, and had the biggest crocodile tears when he was traded. Screamed with excitement when he was named captain of the TML. Seeing him wear that jersey around the house is making me gag, but he is so happy I possibly can deal with it for TODAY only. I got the gears from my buddies already, but oh well what can I do about that Santa guy.

Have you considered trading the little guy to a neighbour in exchange for a couple of their special needs kids and, possibly, Niklas Hagman?

I blame the father for lack of education about staying true to the team, not the individual.

WHOA!!! This kid wore nothing but FLAMES clothes for the first 3 years of his life, has more FLAMES memorbilia then any adult. I tried to get him to change his favorite player, but no way he is budging. You know how much it pains me for his second favorite team to be the TML. Only thing that would be worse is if it was the Oilers or Canucks. I have failed and will work on rectifying the problem over the course of the year. Haha, my New Years resolution has been made.

Your kid is 8 and he's already a loser. Bad card.

In the long run, you'll probably find that having a leafs fan in your life isn't that bad. They never trash talk.

What kind of Leafs fans are you friends with? All the ones I know take every opportunity to remind everyone within earshot of how awesome Toronto is.

It's just a phase, he'll grow out of it.
When I was about 9 years old, I asked my dad to get me a Pavol Bure jersey. I was always a die hard Flames kid but I really liked Bure and the way he played, and didn't have hatred for the Canucks like I do now. More indifference.

As time went on, I grew up, (and 94 occurred) I learned the travesty of my ways and threw away the jersey. I've never had a non-Flames jersey since, and since feel like a need a shower everytime I think about the fact I ever wore that rag.
Your kid will come around as well

This is why parents need to beat their kids. Society is crumbling.

Couldn't you have gotten him a 2010 Olympic Phaneuf jersey instead of the Leafs one?

Oh, wait.
